FPS cap?

Hey guys,



which mods can cause an FPS cap.


Long story short: I modded oblivion and now my game has a FPS cap at 16 FPS.



What I have done:



- deinstall OSR


- turn off Frame Rate Manager from Oblivion Reloaded


- delete the .ini files (mygames and Mod Organizer)


- check the enb, but i don't find a setting to manage fps



In my mind there is no other mod to cap FPS.



Do you have an idea?


In the graphic card settings I don't find any settings.


Also Oblivion starts only in window mode.

Are you sure you didn't just overloaded Oblivion with too many mods?


No mod ever cap the FPS to 16 (by default): there are mods which caps FPS, but they always cap them to values like 25-30 or more (never less than 25, so this totally exclude 16), unless you have explicitly typed "16" in some file .ini somewhere.


OR and Streamline just adjust the Oblivion settings basing on your FPS, so your FPS should stay "close" to the given FPS, but they would still vary and may still increase above that value or decrease below it, so these mods don't really cap your FPS.


OSR is able to really cap your FPS, but you've uninstalled it, so...


In your load order I can find another possible "cap" mod.




So, this make me think there's actually nothing capping your FPS to 16, just your hardware can't handle all those mods.


You may say you have a very powerful hardware.... well... Oblivion doesn't care.


Modern GPU can literally sleep when running Oblivion, so they're fine with it.


The CPU is Oblivion's weak point: Oblivion's engine doesn't properly use threads and multi-core, so the BIG part of the game code run on a single core (leaving few light tasks to other cores). No matter how powerful, a modded Oblivion is able to cripple even modern (2015-2016) CPUs because of this engine limitation.

I think I have found the failure.

The FPS limiter from the ENB cap the FPS, i don't know, why uses 16 FPS.

This doesn't make sense to me... why they capped the FPS to 16?

A similar limit totally ruins the game for no reason!
