Is Magic underpowered in Skyrim?

I believe he meant that he has beaten the Ebony Warrior and his current character is Level 60 and "going the same way", hence the boredom. *syntax and punctuation to confuzzle any situation* :)

I honestly had intended to bow out gracefully at that point, but once the gag occurred to me, I just couldn't resist writing it up :)

Likewise :)

Ever wonder how the world design is so good compared to how many years it took to make Skyrim? I feel some things like magic were imo sacrificed to cut corners. Destro is overpowered due to infinite magicka and stunlocking... But it's not fun at all imo. Destro is unfun imo cause it hits like a wet noodle (in comparison), and you don't even have to manage magicka at all. One of my possible future mod projects is removing regen enchants/cast reduce enchants, replacing them with spellpower, and making the Atronach sign lose auto regen depending entirely on potions, as well as magicka wells similar to TES 3 shrines with the Atronach, and a ring that every 24 hours can sacrifice health once for magicka similar in mechanics to Morrowind's Atronach sign, then buffing magic power in general... After all is said and done, THEN I'll play a Mage in Skyrim.

I think Skyrim's magic could've been incredible but that rushed development combined with a warrior-centric location like Skyrim sealed magics fate in vanilla Skyrim as far as quality goes.

Compared to Oblivion where high leveled magic becomes super overpowered I guess so. But honestly I felt the balance was fine, it made me not focus on one school but branch out and to use tactics like a mage would typically do.

Yes, this is how I see it, too.

Mages in Skyrim generally need to use more than one skill. Enemy mages use wards, cast destruction spells, and often summon an atronach or raise a corpse.

I don't know where the idea comes from, that a mage should only use one school.

I agree with this. The mods I use make many of the improvements you suggest.
