I'm doing a quest that involves going into mistvel keep. I've checked and have no bounty and have the house in riften. However when i enter Riften the guards agro on me. Calm and invisibility spells don't work even though i have perks in the illusion tree. My sneak is decent but not stellar. Also, i do have the quiet casting perk.

I am playing as a vampire and have had no difficulty though i haven't fed once (ie stage 4). And I'm playing through the civil war overhaul mod.

Are there commands that can help to pacify the guards? Or if there are in game ways to resolve this, that would be preferable.

Haven't played the CWO mod but I remember reading that after the seige of Whiterun guards from holds on the opposite side will attack you unless you are wearing their side's armor, might be worth trying that.

I think the issue there (and the mod's author has closed comments for now) has something to do with the guards being removed from sieges and being replaced by soldiers. There is a piece of advice about which sides armor you wear. I've got imperial armor but don't wear it as I prefer my armor (snowelf armor with fortify destruction). i've tried putting on riften guard armor, though i guess i could try getting some storm cloak armor.
