[WiP] Lazy's Guild Rewards

Post » Wed May 11, 2016 8:18 am

This mod is intended to increase rewards and motivation to play through factions and guild in Morrowind by updating the reward structures. This will be achieved through three, separate, additions, consisting of Abilities, Perks, and Quests. Each part of the additional rewards will serve to enhance the narrative of each guild, and hopefully make players feel more inclined to continue them, without silly or arbitrary rewards. For example, a player might be more inclined to pay those Mages Guild dues, if they know it is worth it in terms of potential rewards.

The most straightforward part of the mod will be the scaling abilities. As players progress through the guilds, they will gain increasing stats and effects based on the faction they are advancing in. For example, advancing through the fighter’s guild may lead to increased health, strength, or stamina. These abilities will be static and based on the player’s rank in a faction.

For Perks, I want to give flavor to playing the game, based on the faction that is being advanced. For example, reaching a certain rank in the Morag Tong may give players a perk that gives them increased critical damage while in stealth, while reaching a similar rank in the Legion gives players the ability to “turtle”, greatly increasing block and fatigue regeneration while crouching (sneaking).

For Quests, I want to focus on building up guilds and their capabilities. I plan to focus heavily on recruiting quests, adding new NPCs with special abilities or equipment. For example, for the Mages Guild, a quest to find a master of destruction who is studying the blight, looking for ways to use it in destruction spells against enemies. After a recruiting quest, the NPC joins the mage’s guild and moves into one of the guild halls. Another possibility would be to add quests that expand existing facilities, such as adding an armory to the Fighter’s Guild in Balmora. While most quests will be single, one offs with a direct effect, I anticipate having a slightly longer questline of 3 to 4 quests that will offer a significant benefit to the guild, and therefore the player.

Right now, I am finishing up my design document and I have prototypes of most of the scripts in place in a personal mod I have made. I'm looking for feedback and suggestions, thanks!

I like the sound of that, as much as I enjoyed the guild questlines I always thought they could be fleshed out a bit more.

I'm for anything that adds more to the guilds, and what you have here sounds good. Are you going to include things for you to do after become the head of the guilds? So the after you make head, it is no longer over?

Yes, I am intending to do some of that with some of the add on quests that I am working on. My goal is to add atleast one quest per faction per location, and atleast one multi quest line per faction. I intend for the locations of the faction headquarters to be related to becoming the head of the guild.
