Pure Mage and issues

lordlokai,

I know pretty well how to play oblivion (there are far more experienced ppl here but I can know why I win or lose, and currently its just hardware issue), but guess how many builds it took for me to know exactly what i wanted?

At least 4. "Character" is a combination of multiple factors - race, sign, major skills, specialisations - and although NO combo is impossible (or even too hard), it does require experience to know the game. There is nothing wrong with your Argonian Mage.

I tell you, I have all reasons in the world to apply my 20+ years of traditionlal karate on this Oblivion box, then on the computer. This game is worth investing time in understanding, but this takes playing and research.

Well just getting frustraiting haha, now i am forced to fight 2x faded wraiths at once... i can barely kill 1 with my mana pool i've learned fine art of " run like a crazy man" but its just getting frustraiting as i am one of those people that dislike touching diffculty slider unless its up... at normal i expect a game to be just that set for the new players. I like the game i just feel like my character has nothing... no damage no durability and no way to deal with multible enemies...my summons don't last beyond a couple hits, my spells take 10+ to kill something it just feels annoying i suppose i can move slider down but again i really don't like being forced to do that. Just seems to me that if i was a fighter or archer or something else i'd have no problems dealing with these enemies but because i'm a mage and tied to my mana bar which is absurdly low i'm boned unless i spend HOURS farming potions before i do 1 quest, i dunno i just feel like everything is stacked against my argo =\

It doesn't look like you noticed Acadian's post about using Command. Really any mage, any race, any amount of magicka that can make custom spells should not have any problems whatsoever, depending on how you play. Like Acadian said, use Command to make things fight each other. Even in your example above two wraiths will fight each other and even though they may not be able to harm each other, you can still let them get locked together a little while then either start attacking one or simply walk away. Here are three spells that will allow you to kill everything you meet while hardly ever getting touched.

Spell One - Weakness to Magicka 100 for 2 secs on touch + Inviso on self 2 secs on touch. Walk up invisibly to an opponent then cast this spell about 4 times. Then follow with some kind of pretty low damage over a few secs elemental spell or Drain Health 100 for 1 sec. The Weakness effect will stack while you stay invisible and untouched, then the damage spell should kill your target if done correctly.

The next one, really two, is just a version of Command for humanoids and creature of about 5 levels higher than yours, for just 1-4 secs, like Acadian pointed out, usually the target will continue to fight a second enemy and all of them will generally ignore you until the target of your spell dies, even if the duration has long expired. You can use this one spell to kill almost everything.

Enchant clothes with fortify magicka. You can also enchant a shield with it and it won't affect your spell effectiveness as long as you are wielding a two handed weapon like a staff.
