Ritual Stone trick

Post » Wed May 11, 2016 5:10 pm

Does anybody on here use a trick where you defeat the boss at the end of a dungeon by using an army of reanimated draugr that you fought during the completion of the dungeon? You know, like reanimate them using the Ritual Stone spell several times, each time making sure they were in reach of the spell's power? (Of course, you have to exercise some patience when you have to wait for 24 hours each time (but I'm a very pateint person lol  ). I only waited 24 hours a couple of times.

I did this for High Gate Ruins and Vokun was taken out by my army in just a few seconds.

I don't enjoy using "tricks." I'd rather rely on my character's native skills. For me, tricks and exploits take me out of the game. They almost always rely on player knowledge and feel too "meta-gamey" to me. I like to live inside a game and abide by what I see as a game's natural, in-universe rules.

Watching my characters grow progressively stronger and more capable is one of the minor pleasures of playing a roleplaying game for me. It is like a little narrative of its own, this progression of skills. Player-knowledge-driven exploits and tricks tend to ruin the story of my character's progression for me.

Agreed.

I'm a mage, so the only "trick" I use in difficult areas is to Conjure/Summon some 'backup... :obliviongate:

seems to me more like a cheap exploitation of the game's mechanics, so not something I personally would do

however, I am not you and if you enjoy getting the most you can out of a particular function of the game and it's what keeps you playing, then more power to you. the only zombies I use are one or two at a time to provide a little extra assistance/distraction while I knock the stuffing out of an enemy. Way I see it, if I'm not strong enough to do it that way yet then I'm not strong enough for that particular location. (I believe the Dragon Priests themselves are almost all locked to level 50, 60 on solstheim)

I'll abstain from further commenting as I wouldn't want to word things poorly and cause offense.

But to clarify my feelings in general, you play your way and i'll play mine. The beauty of TES is that we can do that and it doesn't have to affect each other or be the same.

I have never done so... not my kinda play. My characters have at times had a "group" of followers, but they were with them before the dungeon. It's actually very rare that my characters are loners... but I haven't played a Necromancer so.

It's not something I'd use myself but that's really clever. :goodjob:

Anyway, about the only trick I use is the resto loop to max out Smithing, Alchemy and Speech since leveling them legitimately is kind of tedious IMO. I never keep the +90,000% items though, when I'm finished with them I stick them in a respawning container and leave them there. I really hope a bandit or someone doesn't stumble on them and start using them though. That would be kind of horrifying. :bolt:

I also resto loop a pair of gauntlets to do 250-300 or so unarmed damage since using fisticuffs outside of brawls ranges from useless to suicidal.

Thanks for the compliment :)

And yeah, I wouldn't do it on every dungeon or on every boss.

I've used the ritual stone on a necromancy playthrough quite awhile ago. It's fun to do once or twice, but I find I lack the patience to really make use of it. But if you like doing it, do it right and get the Aetherial Crown. Have the Ritual Stone stored on the crown. You can use the power, remove the crown, put the crown back on and use the power again with no waiting!

Ah thanks for the tip. When I've done Lost To The Ages in my current playthrough I'm definitely going to try that. ;)

I just carry corpses and bring them together.

I only go so far back through the dungeon though, not backtracking it fully to add another 2 corpses.

No waiting glitches for me.

No I agree, usually I try to aim for maybe three or four corpses by the end of the dungeon, if one or two corpses are out of reach of the spell or so far back that it makes it too labourious then I'll leave them be. It's just thats it's so much fun for me personally to see an army of draugr take out a Dragon Priest quicker than I could do on my own, while I stand back and watch. And of course it presents an opportunity to sneak up behind him and hopefully one-shot him. :liplick:
