Keyboard Reverse Help on Android Phone!

Post » Sat May 28, 2016 5:54 am

Okay, apparently my android phone updated my keyboard thing (the thing you use to text, type in chatboxes, etc) and it is a terrible update. The thing looks pretty stupid, the suggestion field doesn't work correctly, and it does NOT auto-caps the first word in each sentence. So, how can I reverse the update and then keep it from updating ever again?

I hate this update too. So much unnecessary change. I've had problems with the suggestion field, too. While it does offer correct/alternative spellings and words for what I'm typing, my phone keeps 'correcting' automatically. And if I turn off this correcting, the suggestion field disappears entirely for some reason.

I am never saying "ducking"...

I would start searching with Google, how to downgrade your firmware to a previous one!

An example is this: http://androidfact.com/how-to-downgrade-android-firmware-and-versions/

-------

Just keep in mind, any major OS firmware updates also updates the bootloader of the device. (the most times)

So, it's vey well possible that a specific version of an OS, to require a specific version of a bootloader, and bootloaders are not just easy to change.

You must going to do some serious (re)search, and then acquire the file(s), and try to sort out the method to flash it to your phone.

Also to know, this can void your warranty, as it's a hacking method actually.

And lastly - be aware, doing things like erasing or overwriting the bootloader it's an easy way to brick your phone!

-------

Also a vey good idea to start with, is to ask on forums to find information about what is available for your particular device.

Use a different keyboard? You might be using the Google Keyboard or one that came with your firmware that was added by the phone manufacturer. There are a million different keyboards, though. I personally use Swype, but a lot of people like SwiftKey.

I personally wouldn't go through the effort to downgrade your firmware...it might not have even been caused by a firmware update. It could just be that the keyboard app updated from the Play Store. If that's the case it will just update again after you flash the old firmware (if you have auto-updates turned on), leaving you back where you started.

Motorola unfortunately doesn't have a stock keyboard.

Latest update svcks like a Hoover and I've made my complaint loud and clear.

Laggy, ugly(seriously, wtb BLACK keyboard) and I shouldn't have to use a third party, full of ads keyboard because Google can't not break things.

This is why I don't update things on my phone until stuff stops working or I need to. I got 60 some pending updates right now. I just hate when they change things around after I got used to them.

I also use a special fallout keyboard on my android. So my entire phone looks and acts like a pip boy (I did this long before Bethesda came out with fallout 4 and their pip boy app), and my keyboard looks identical to the fallout 1 and 2 pip boy and dialogue.
