I'm sorry if this topic is inappropriate, but I don't know where else to ask.


Well, the easiest solution here obviously is to get a powerhouse PC and install 200 visual mods, but unfortunately I can't afford that.


I currently own Skyrim on the PS3. My problem with it is, I don't know if the console isn't powerful enough, or if my disc is slightly damaged, or if I'm just spoiled from playing PS4, but I can't get myself to play Skyrim anymore.


- The frames drop constantly and I think it's probably just because of my PS3's age.

- The graphics are still good, but now have become sub-par.

- The game constantly crashes on me and throws me right out of the mood of playing it.


You see, I'm dying to play a game like Skyrim, but when I turn Skyrim on, I can't play it. I'm slightly enjoying Oblivion more, for some reason.


I'm just looking for a game that I can play on PS4 that gives me that Skyrim feel, because I have a feeling that TES6 won't be revealed until at least late 2017.


I've tried Witcher 3 and I just can't stand it. I have PTSD from playing Two Worlds when I was going through puberty and I immediately get thrown back to Two Worlds when I play Witcher 3, it's sad. It would be 2x better if I could just play it in first-person.


Dragon Age: Inquisition is too much thinking for me, I don't like having to make so many decisions.

It is a known issue with Skyrim that the optimalization for the PS3 was horrible, even unplayable, for over a year and still isn't great. That said, you can probably get an Xbox360 or capable gaming PC(since Skyrim is getting old and outdated technologically speaking) for cheap. That probably doesn't help, but that's about the best I can do.

To be super clear, I was asking for game recommendations like Skyrim for PS4, if you guys know of any.


I really like the first-person view, the forest/fantasy theme and some kind of historical melee weapon in my hand, like a sword.

I suppose Fallout 4 is the closest thing I can think of, but I doubt you want guns instead of magic, given how you asked. So, no recommendations. TES is pretty unique as a series.

I'll have to find me a really good sword on Fallout 4 or something and use my imagination hahaha. =P

There are some neat melee weapons in FO4, and you can have a pretty viable character that uses it, though I recommend going full power armor style by the later stages of the game should you try. High damage resist will help you deal with closing the range, due to all the guns

There's nothing quite like Skyrim. The standard answers are out, so I'd suggest Far Cry for the open world feel.

I'm not sure if Dragon's Dogma would be a good choice or not... the graphic's are decent, very similar to DAI in choices, harder than Skyrim in some ways... I didn't care for the unleveled world, but some like that. it's an idea anyway.

Almost near to Skyrim, i would suggest Dark Souls I and II, Dragons Dogma perhaps Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning.

I'll second this, you may like Far Cry Primal. It's based in cave man days so it's combat is focused on clubs, spears, bow and arrows, and taming dangerous animals to fight at your side (the animals also happen to be adorable, lol). It also has a survival mode that you can play with too that will make the game more challenging.

Oh no, the PS3 port was just downright horrible, it has nothing to do with the Ps3's age.

I will definitely give Far Cry Primal a try guys. That FPS aspect is really what I like, and you're right, the closest thing we have to Skyrim on PS4 is Fallout 4, so I'll just need to be more patient. Far Cry Primal should scratch this itch I've been having.

In the mean time, do some research and save some money towards getting a PC. You may find that getting a decent gaming rig isn't as far out of reach as you may think.

Well, Far Cry Primal is not exactly Skyrim (if you dare to compare those two), as it's more simplistic in many ways.

The game doesn't have any dialogues except the (few) cutscenes, there are no big caverns nor underground ruins and such stuff.

There is no magic, and no branching skill trees for different character builds. And there are no dragons as well. lol

But you can hunt, sneak, climb, run, and heal yourself.

It just feels near to a Skyrim like game, without being one.

But of course, you can give it a try...

To the OP, have you tried Elder Scrolls Online? After a bit of tinkering from various updates, it has evolved to the point where it is (IMO) a fair and true Elder Scrolls game - easily fitting between, say, Oblivion and Skyrim. It's not quite as demanding as other games so you should be OK on the PS4.

If you've still got your PS3, I'd recommend Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. It's the game a lot of Oblivion/Fallout 3 devs defected to make after lured-back-from-retirement Ken Rolston was put in charge, and it's one of the most underrated games I've ever seen (easily equal, or even superior, to Dragon Age: Origins). Sadly, the company went bust before they could bring us a sequel, but if you haven't played it, you're missing out. It's closer to Fable than Skyrim, but it's still probably something you'd enjoy.

You may wanna try it out...especially if you like hack and slash games.

Where you share the gameworld with hundreds of other people, two of four main TES guilds are hidden behind a $40 paywall and all classes are mages... Don't get me wrong, I like ESO and I think it's well worth playing, but TES VI it is not. Still, it's a viable option if you want to scratch that Skyrim itch.
