Remove spell from a follower using the console?

Post » Tue Jun 07, 2016 7:24 pm

Ive tried using a console command to remove a follower spell as he uses his particularly low level spells when I know he has better. In this case it is J'Zargo using sparks. The problem is when trying to remove the spell ID you get "spell not found on J'Zargo". Another issue I've run into is trying to get Teldryn Sero as a blades recruit , he loses all dialogue options and I can no longer interact with him. Any console command fixes would be greatly appreciated, if anyone seems to know any.

I'm not sure I'd want to remove a spell from a follower. I think they choose spells based on the situation. J'Zargo will certainly change to a longer-ranged spell if he's shooting at a distant target.

Low-level spells like Sparks are generally better at close range than the "bolt" type spells, because they cause continuous damage, and there's no "build-up time." My mages generally switch to Flame or Sparks to deal with a close-up melee opponent (usually while backing up, to avoid being hit.) Try Flames in one hand, and Frostbite in the other; burn 'em and slow 'em down! ;)

Novice skills are still worthwhile, even when you can cast "better." :)

The other thing about the low-end spells is that they're magicka-cheap, so you can use them when your pool is low, and for a longer time. The damage/cost ratio stays in their favour, even when you have a higher spell.

The low-level spells also benefit from the high-level elemental perks, so a spell like Frostbite, with the Deep Freeze perk, will paralyze an opponent just as readily as a high-level frost spell will.

You can't remove spells from an actor using RemoveSpell if they're present on the actor base record. You'll have to create a mod to do so.
