Wrye Mash Bain folder location question

Post » Sun Jun 19, 2016 4:20 pm

I don't remember what I did with this when I last played MW but I have installed Wrye Mash Stand Alone and activated Bain and the Archive folder is located in C:\program files\bethesda... but I don't want it there. I would like it outside of program files where I installed MW on my C drive directory. When I press the settings button on the button of the WMSA window I get the option to change the location but when I do it never works. Bain does work correctly where it is now. Is there any way to move the folder out of Program files?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Two questions needs to be asked.

1. Where is Morrowind installed?

2. Which Wrye Mash Stand Alone (WMSA) version are you using?

MW is installed in C:\bethesda\Morrowind

Which WMSA? Hmm... good question,.. this one--> wrye_mash_84dcg003_install.rar It didn't come with a Read Me so that's all the info I got on it. :( I think I got it from Fligs but I am willing to switch to another version.

There is actually a readme with Melchor's WMSA and that was I who uploaded http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=3646 back in 2010 since http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1106095-wrye-mash-stand-alone/page-3#entry16637145 to Melchor.

Readme for Melchor's WMSA

Spoiler

This is Wrye Mash stand alone version.

All Python scripts and resources needed to use Wrye Mash have been embeded in the executable (mash.exe)

and the distribution.

So, you don't need to install Python and wxPython on your system, except if you want to mess with Wrye Mash

source code.

How to get the sources ?

Just unpack 'source.zip' !

How to (re)compile ?

Be sure to have installed all Python dependencies for Wrye Mash on your system.

If I were you I would stick with Melchor's WMSA since it doesn't have the "cannot edit the file header" bug that exist in Yacoby's WMSA. Also, Melchor's WMSA allows you to install his WMSA exactly where you want and I mean it you can do it.

Can this version handle items with unicode filenames (eg The Underground)?

If I understood you correctly, yes I think so. However, I know one mod that gives me an unicode error from the http://mw.modhistory.com/download-56-13577 mod in WMSA, which have a file name like this.

Better armor (rev14_Glass).bsa

Ya, The Underground esp is named THE_UNDERGROUND_2.esp soI don't think is will work. I just was thinking that there may be a work-around within the utility itself.

My question is, "Can I rename the esp in the CK and if so will it work then?"

I recently uploaded this version to the Nexusmods http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44386/?because someone uploaded the older Yacoby version and people couldn't get it to work. I remembered this thread and the help you provided. Basically I copied and pasted everything from your Figgerty upload and I linked everything to your post. This way people would know that it was you who provided all the information. You deserve the credit after all.

Thanks Leo.

ESIT: It has been confirmed that you can open the esp and change the name with the ck and enchanted editor and nifscope and get rid of the unicode. It does seem to be a lot of work though and I would just install it manually. Thanks again!
