Any chance the special edition will fix my freezing problem?

Post » Sun Jun 19, 2016 10:42 pm

Hi guys, so... i have a question hopefully the devs can response.

I have Skyrim on pc and for like 3 years i couldn't play it because of an extremely frequent freezing problem. I have tried everything already to fix it (you can see a very large post about it on the tecnical issues subforum) but no luck... i have concluded that Skyrim has a problem with my particular video card or some other part of my hardware. I have had crashes like that in a few other games, but none is that frequent as in Skyrim. Weirdly enough, Fallout 4 works perfectly on max settings, so i guess its something in particular with Skyrim and im hoping the special edition will change something so i can play it again!

So really, its impossible to guess, but if some dev is reading maybe they can hint that there is a chance. I mean, if they are just changing shaders and textures, i guess the chances are pretty low that its gonna fix the issue, but if they are changing stuff deeper, then maybe i got a chance... anyone knows?

That's a really simple explanation. No much details actually...

If you have mods loaded on Skyrim, it could be very well relates to that.

If you computer plays Fallout 4 without problems, it should play Skyrim a well.

Actually, we don't even know if it's a 32 bit or 64 bit release. Also req. computer specs aren't out either.

Post a dxdiag: http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

Use spoiler tags. The button to the left of the Font dropdown. Select spoiler. Paste the entire report in the textbox.

Nevermind that guys, i already tried everything already, i have already made a topic here and spent weeks trying to fix it with no luck =/ i currently have the game uninstalled. But yeah i reinstalled a bunch of times, played with no mods, put the settings on minimum and tried a whole lot of other stuff. So really by now im just hoping the special edition will fix the issue, because it dosn't seem like it can be fixed otherwise unless i change my hardware.

A dxdiag can be very helpful sometimes.

---------

In my opinion after this:

"I have Skyrim on pc and for like 3 years i couldn't play it because of an extremely frequent freezing problem. I have tried everything already to fix it (you can see a very large post about it on the tecnical issues subforum) but no luck...

i have concluded that Skyrim has a problem with my particular video card or some other part of my hardware. I have had crashes like that in a few other games..."

...someone could come to the conclusion that you're trying to play Skyrim on an Intel HD IGP or similar hardware.

but without knowing your hardware, no one can be sure.

Can you point us to the correct link on those technical forums?

Because the most of us having other activities as well, you should be more specific with your problem.

It could be very well hardware related.

So, just make a decision! ;)

Well the dxdiag and all that was in this topic:

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1589460-can%C2%B4t-play-for-years-due-to-crashes/#entry24940434

As you can see, in the end i gave up =/ that's why i was hoping the special edition could help fix the issue now, im very grateful for your help! but at this point im just gonna wait for the release and see if it helps.

Remove anything related to mods inclusive NMM or MO.

Delete Skyrim that way:

Spoiler

First do a standard uninstall. (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features-> Uninstall The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)

Next, delete your skyrim folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\

Then delete your Skyrim directory under Documents\My Games (back up your saves but not us them, as you used mods)

Then under C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Local\ - Delete the Skyrim folder that is in it.

(You should enable to see the hidden files under windows to delete that folder.) HOW: (View - Options - Folder Options - View - Advanced Settings: Show hidden files, folders and drives)

Go to your Steam folder. Delete the folder named appcache. (Important)

Use Ccleaner after all this (http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner), Go to the Registry tab and hit -

Reboot your computer (Important)

Then install your game again, from scratch. !!!!

*** You don't need to uninstall Steam. ***

Start Skyrim in offline mode and monitor how far you can get without a crash!

Yeah, currently its been uninstalled for a few months, but i already tried the super clean uninstall, with no luck =/ the crashes are sometimes more frequent than others, at best i've been able to make it as far as after killing the dragon in Whiterun, other times i crash as soon as Alduin starts the attack.

Anyway, again man, thanks for the help! but im not trying to fix it now, i spent too much time with that with no luck at all and i don't really have much time now, i just wanted to know if there was a chance the special edition would fix the issue =/ (i didn't originally posted this on the tech support forum, it got moved). I heard the special edition would run on 64 bits, so that might be a problem solver, i'll just have to wait till Octover to see!

Yeah, Skyrim SE will be a 64 bit one. At last...lol

However if you encounter crashes on other games as well, it may be hardware related and it may not.

The best way to test it, is on a clean Windows installation system, and the game in question only.

But that's a no go, for many people. So - lets say, something will be different on the October 28th.
