I don't care about Skyrim remastered, special edition..

Post » Wed Jun 29, 2016 8:47 pm

,,or whatever...I've been playing Skyrim for two years on medium setting using an onboard graphics card(luckily I have a quad core with 8 GB lol) and the graphics don't bother me at all. I'm using about 200 mods and the game is simply awesome as it is. I don't have, nor care about, any graphics enhancements or ENBs...they're pretty but graphics are not everything to me. So long as the game is fun and stable...and Skyrim is very stable for me despite the pathetic graphics card.

That's great for you. But a lot of console users - and PC users as well - are very excited.

It's great that you don't feel you need any of the new things that the SE will bring. Another testament to how great of a game it is.

The thing is, the game's remained popular and relevant well past the hardware class it was made for, and a great number of PC gamers with new systems essentially have to play the original game in handicap mode. They've already purchased the gear to run it at modern standards, and for Bethesda to release this to take advantage of new advances in computing hardware is nothing short of awesome. They didn't have to do that.

That said, I don't personally have much use for this SE version.. not right now anyway. Skyrim runs shockingly well on my ancient WinXP PC, even in ultra at 1080p as long as I turn off sky reflections. And by 'ancient' I mean this is the same dual core PC I built and put XP pro on in 2005... 11 years ago. It was already old when Skyrim was released. I keep an appreciative perspective about the SE version even though it doesn't apply to me, because underneath all the glitz and pvssyr about it, it really only means that the game we all love will live on for that much longer.. and that's not a bad thing.

Also, there is another thing to keep in mind is that SSE would probably reset achievements that now exist on Steam, but one cannot reset those achievements via Steam.

Or those achievements may be excluded from SSE who knows. Personally, I would love to see those achievements removed or at least altered to allow an user to reset the achievements by starting a new game, not keeping them intact.

The new Skyrim edition will be a completely new game on Steam (it's not replacing the original Skyrim,) so the achievements will be separate from the original ones.

SSE on Steam is another game, you can even have both installed at the same time, I believe, so I would say with SSE there is a new set of achievements too. Probably the same as the old ones, but still.

fyi, the new version will be 64-bit, which should add some stability with heavily modded games due to the RAM usage limit the current 32-bit version has

So if you don't care about this.why post here about this topic?Sorry to be rude, but there are many console players who do care about this. This post is a waste of space in my opinion.I have seen a lot of other posts moved or taken down that are far more deserving of discussion.Just my humble opinion of course.

Yes. I play on 360 and it's been worrying me with some of it's behavior recently. I will gladly move to playing Skyrim on my PS4.

I agree. There are a lot of console players who care about SSE and also a lot of PC players who care about this because it removes a bottleneck and allows the game to make full use of modern hardware.

I don't really understand the point of this thread. Is it to discuss the fact that the old 32 bit engine runs pretty well on outdated hardware? That's a great feature of the old engine and one of the nice things about the way Beth is implementing SSE is that people can still keep playing on the old 32 bit engine if they want since the SSE is a separate game.

But if the point of this thread is to discuss how well the old engine runs on old hardware, the title of the thread should be changed to reflect that, cause as its written, the title just sounds like complaining for the sake of complaining -- something like "Old computers don't need a new engine . . ." would have been a much better way to title this thread.

Turija....

Yes, quite Turija darling. I do not 'live' in a computer, but my "likeness" relies on an aging Xbox 360 and frankly I can't wait to transfer across. Hmmm, may I be a little personal sweetie......I LOVE your markings.....are you a natural Tabby?

I must confess I simply adore furs, especially ones with such pretty markings.....

Oh...forgive me poppet....I make it sound as though I could be wearing you.....imagine that.....wearing you...ha, ha, ha

If you are free one evening, perhaps you might pop around...

I would love to have a quiet little chat, bring a bottle, and um' come alone hmmm....

Zanderat.....that is an impressive beard sir...chuckle.

No need for confusion, but yes there is more here than meets the eye

I was simply saying my likeness....um' visual appearance....is rendered on a clunky old Xbox360....so I will be very happy when the new game comes out and I can be rendered on an XB1.

Perhaps you wonder how my avatar looks so good then? A good friend of mine here, rendered me up on PC just for a photo shoot.

My comments to Turija....well poppet, you are not meant to understand, it was a bit tongue in cheek....but I am accustomed to the finer things in life and his fur looks sumptuous. He is safe, I decided the world is a nicer place with him in it :)

Yours

I don't really get the point of this thread either. You are playing on a PC which means that you get the upgrade completely free. If you still don't care about the remaster: Great! Glad you're happy with the game, but there is absolutely no downside to this as a PC player.

Sure, it's not a groundbreaking update, but again, it's free and worth it just for the 64-bit engine.

Good idea. As enticing as her offer is (you could see this one blushing if not for the thick fur) it could get this one in trouble with the little missus.

Thankfully Turija, I think she actually likes you and so has sought prey elsewhere.

I love that lady dearly

So I hope she doesn't see this :cold:

But its no exaggeration to say that

Whilst she is undeniably very beautiful on the outside,

Inside shes is somewhere between

Cruella De'vil and Professor Moriarty.

I'd call this a lucky escape my friend......

For those of us that do care, it will be nice to have 64 bit performance.

Well.... I don't honestly care myself - so give the newbie a break, eh?

In any case, after reading some stuff about the new version, I don't particularly see any reason to bother with it. I don't have any issues with 32bit skyrim on my 64bit system. And really - the LAST thing I need is to have to download gazoolas of gigs of new mods (because I don't have the bw to do so....)

I think its MARVELOUS for console users. I wish Beth wasn't charging them. Seriously, I'd be happy to give my free copy to someone on a console who has to buy it.
