Need help making teeth invisible... yes, you heard me

Post » Sun Jul 24, 2016 2:47 am

I'm working on making an invisible npc, for purposes I will keep to myself. I'm doing this using textures so that my character can still wear armor and have it be shown.

Ive managed to make everything invisible except the teeth... been working with the mouthhuman texture and nif, but for some reason the things I used to make all the other features invisible are not working with the teeth... is there something im missing?

This can be accomplished a couple of ways, depending how you want to do it.

1. Update the mouthhuman.dds texture file, give it an all black alpha channel. Redirect your nif to your new texture (give it a new name, don't overwrite the existing texture).

2. Or, in CK, you can take your mouth HeadPart for your new Race (you made a new race, right?), open the Edit box for the model, and apply the existing Null Texture Set to it.

Method one sounds like what i did to make everything else invisible, but for some reason the teeth/tongue persists

I haven't gotten into making new races yet, was hoping i could avoid that. wouldnt want people using my mod to see a new race in character creation. can this not be done without it?

Edit: okay i actually went the new race route. seems the key was deleting the malemouthhumanoiddefault from the headparts.. that was a little tricky. thanks for the info.

Sounds like your alpha channel wasn't pure black or wasn't saved properly as DXT5.

Thing is, if you're just replacing existing parts with your new parts, everybody is going to become invisible. You can make a race unplayable and not shown in character creation, but then you wouldn't be able to create a character yourself with it.
