The Olympics kind of sneaked up on me this year. I couldn't sleep last night and channel surfed, finally finding NBC and the women's sand volleyball competition. Anyone else watching any of these games?

At the end of the broadcast, they showed the medal race after one day and I was wondering if anything had changed. A three way tie between the US, China, and Japan (I think) with 5 medals each. However, a couple of countries had 2 golds (Australia and Hungary maybe?), while the previously mentioned three had only 1 each. It used to be medals carried different point values. Is this still true, or is it now considered a medal is a medal is a medal?
