Will any of these PC's play Skyrim well?

Post » Wed Sep 14, 2016 9:18 pm

I've been given a list of laptops, and the one I like the most will be bought for me for my birthday. I'm not too sure on PC specs and everything, so I thought I'd ask the good people here for a second opinion. The laptops in question are listed here, in ascending price:

Any help would be greatly appreciated, :thanks:

(EDIT: that typo in the title infuriates me...)

I am not able to check out any of the links.

Are you looking to be able to play the new enhanced version.

Yeah, those links just lead to a "site busy" page for me.

You might want to post the specs for the systems you're considering, and/or tell us the brand names and model numbers.

Your first link doesn't work.

Links 2 and 3 are for laptops with integrated graphics - those won't work.

The last one had a low end AMD Radeon card that is comparable in power to an Intel 4800 graphics set, so I doubt it'll run well on that either.

And I got the first link to work, and it appears to be one of those touchscreen/tablet/netbook combos, very low on storage, and totally useless for games.

Those cheap notebooks are not designed for gaming. They will likely run Skyrim, but the question is will it be playable.

I would choose the Acer 15.6 Inch Aspire ES1-521 A8 8GB 1TB Laptop. I reiterate, this is NOT a gaming notebook. Dont expect to play much on it other than things like fifa, dirt rally, SIMS, minecraft, old games, etc.

Here's an idea of gaming performance: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Acer-Aspire-ES1-521-87DN-Notebook-Review.158838.0.html

Use your own judgement there. To me 15 FPS is not playable. You would have to turn down the resolution even more 800x600 maybe and use all low settings. There are mods that turn off even more.

none of those are good for gaming.. if thats really the price range your parents (or whoever is buying you this laptop) are looking to spend, you'd be better off looking into desktops

Even in desktops, the price for something reasonably workable, from that store, is likely to be about 100 more than the above laptops.

I think your budget is just a little too low to be realistic.

Cheers everyone, the pads linked in the OP are intended for university use, I do already have a powerful PC at home that runs Skyrim like a dream, but I can't get home to pick it up for another month or so. I was just wondering what games I could play in my lectures for the time being ;)

In that case, I'd go with whichever suits your school needs. :)

well, i personally think playing games during your lectures is a bad idea, but to each their own :P

if you are looking for an open world RPG to play on your school laptop however, you could look at some of the older ones over on GoG.. i'd personally suggest a might and Magic game (6-8 are masterpieces), but many of the older games on GoG from should work on one of those

I would get the ACER with 8GB of RAM.
