Dual FlurryElemental Fury Problem?

Post » Wed Sep 28, 2016 12:24 pm

I'm playing the Legendary Edition on PS3.

I'm using Dual Flurry level 2 with Elemental Fury level 1. When I attack with no enemies around just to test the speed, I attack really fast. But once I pop the Elemental Fury when an enemy is actually in my face and I try to attack, more often than not it's like my attack button isn't responding AT ALL.

It often seems to take at least a few seconds if not more for the first attack to come out, and the following attacks seem sporadic. Definitely nowhere near the speed of the attacks during testing outside of combat. Sometimes it's almost like the game doesn't let me attack when I have Dual Flurry and Elemental Fury and an enemy is in front of me.

Is there a known problem regarding this, or is there just something I'm missing that could be affecting the responsiveness of the controls?

If it makes any difference, I'm using two Honed Draugr War Axes with no enchantments.

I tested it a bit more later. It seems to happen the same with other one-handed weapons and not just the Honed Draugr War Axe. I also tried Dwarven War Axe, Forsworn Axe, and Forsworn Sword. I couldn't do extensive testing though since the dungeon I was in didn't end up having many enemies.

Then I went and tried it in Whiterun (didn't save after I slaughtered everyone...) against guards and The Companions. Oddly, I didn't have a problem with the responsiveness while fighting against them. If I did, it wasn't nearly as long a delay or as frequent.

So now I'm really confused. It doesn't sound like a controller issue.

It was not a problem when I was testing with no enemies around.

It was barely a problem, if one at all, in Whiterun with normally friendly NPCs.

It's often a problem in dungeons with enemies.

I tried Elemental Fury up to level 2 and tested that and it seemed even worse in regard to the responsiveness. Even outside of battle now, the attack button wasn't really registering consistently or immediately while I had it active and dual-wielding.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've noticed the same thing before on PC. At least in my case, once the shout was active it seemed like the time space between a regular attack and the delay for charging up for a POWER attack was also shortened by a good amount. I figured out that I wasn't being light enough or fast enough on the buttons to always only get single attacks, and accidentally calling for 2 power attacks near the same time made it even worse. The results were sporadic and choppy, sounding a lot like what you describe, so maybe that might help.

Make sure the weapons aren't enchanted, that your aren't draining your stamina too fast, or that the enemy isn't staggering you with blocks.

I don't remember Elemental Fury bugging with Dual Flurry. But the latter did seem to bug on occasion, leaving me with no other option than to remove the perks and add them again. This can be done either through the console (if on PC) or by "sacrificing" a dragon soul to reset the tree and perking it up again.

Thanks for the responses. I did check on them all, but they didn't seem to be the cause.

I wasn't pressing too slowly or messing up the inputs with power attacks, my weapons weren't enchanted, I was at full stamina, nothing was being blocked, and the perks were functioning fine.

I think I finally figured it out though. Just to test my input speed, I changed my attack to a face button instead of a shoulder button (since I'm more used to rapidly pressing a face button). My attacks became SUPER unresponsive. Even without Elemental Fury, I was pressing and pressing and attacks were very delayed and sporadic. The worst I ever experienced.

It turns out I've been pressing attack TOO fast. Once I slowed my presses down to more of a relaxed rhythm, they were coming out consistently and quickly, with and without Dual Flurry+Elemental Fury.

I still have to test it some more just to be sure, but I think that's it. I guess pressing too fast messed up the inputs being read or something like that.
