Creatures I prefer not to kill

Post » Mon Oct 03, 2016 10:05 am

I find the rabbits and foxes too attractive to hunt. There are plenty of wolves for skins and the rabbits don't provide much meat. I pretty much leave the deer alone also unless I need the food. I end up eating wolf, bear or mudcrab more than anything. Giants and mammoths I also prefer not to molest, except for the occasional rogue giant that needs killing. Most of them are harmless and just want to be left alone. I do sneak into their camps and rob them fairly frequently however. Good loot. There is a big drawback about leaving mammoths alone, If you have Azura's Star they are one of the main readily available sources for Grand Souls. I'm pretty much stuck with buying filled grand soul gems.

Do you hunt giants or other non hostile creatures?

As a player, I dislike killing non-hostile animals. But of course when I roleplay, my characters follow their own paths. Some will kill everything in sight. Some kill deer or rabbit for food. Some of my characters appear to have no pattern whatsoever to what they will kill and what they will not. The behavior of my characters is often inscrutable to me.

Technically... Wild goat, deer and rabbit are classed as hostile (detect life) but let's not be pedantic about it!

I enjoyed killing the local fauna in my current playthrough, It's the first time I've played properly as a stealth archer, they provided me with good practice to hone my rudimentary archery skills, especially when they're on the move.

I'm such a completionist (when I'm playing my go-to pure mage build) so killing giants for the 'cleared' status on locations comes with the territory. I will also stick to the army I sided with an kill any patrolling Imperial or Stormcloak troops I see, along with the Thalmor - I hate them!

I tend to kill anything that will want to kill me... with the addition of Ulfr.

I don't need to worry about grand soul gems for Azura's star. I always break it and take the black one. So many people to kill so little time. Then again I prefer to play assassins so to each his own. If I have an overabundance of soul gems I'll just kill everything I see and trap it but for the most part I leave the fauna alone and concentrate on killing men, dragons, undead, giants for their toes, etc.

I never kill bunnies.

But I tend to only kill animals if they show up as hostile on the compass if it stops me from fast-travelling.

a bunny counter? ..........ohhh why? ...........what have the pore little bunnies done? ............is hoping around and being so cute and cuddly a crime?

and what about all those pore little butterfly's .........who have to catch public transportation to get around.......... all because some plucked the wings just to make some silly potion.

just a question for every one?.............there are references in books & pillars with pictures of snakes ...............has anyone ever seen one in Skyrim?

I usually leave the prey species alone, and sometimes resurrect dead ones that have fallen to larger predators. Their motion and mundane activities add a sense of life to an otherwise empty world, so I like having them around. I just buy or find what I need and leave the critters alone.

I always kill rabbits for some reason but if you follow foxes they will bring you somewhere where loot is.

I don't usually bother with rabbits and foxes. For some reason though the elk, deer, and moose bug me like they did on Oblivion. For some reason when they run away as is their AI, they stay in front me my character getting in the way of his or her path rather annoyingly. You figure real wildlife like that doesn't run down the same path you are like a pathetic chase scene in a movie. I mean, wouldn't the natural instinct be to veer off the path of whatever is "chasing" them? Foxes do occasionally get in the way too, but not near as much as elk / deer and goats. The funny thing with goats in Skyrim is you can run up ahead of them a decent ways and they stay on their current course running right into potential danger. Even at their slow speeds. IMO, they could use some AI improvements, not to mention their steering mechanism seems a bit odd, i.e. too slow. I'm guessing real deer can turn faster.

Wolves, sabre cats and bears make the primary source for my characters' leather. Elk and deer are a second source, but I don't go out of my way to take them down. Only when they refuse to get off my character's path. Of course butterflies are a good source of ingredients too. I generally leave giants alone unless it's part of a Jarl's bounty quest, or if they get ornery and lump my character in with the common bandit rabble while trying to slay the bandits that are pouching their mammoths

As for soul gems, I usually just buy the filled grand soul gems at vendors, but I do trap wolves, sabre cats and mudcrabs to practice enchanting.

I don't like killing the Giants and their Mammoths.

I was very angry that Todd Howard made them seem like friendlies and they are not.

I will go a long way around to avoid arousing their anger.

Whose to say those rabbits haven't devoured their own fair share of innocent travelers on the road? How long must we wait until they began to crave the flesh of our children from the safety of our homes? Better to kill them before they learn how to kill us I say. Better safe than sorry.

:stare: Silly potion! SILLY POTION! A few of those SILLY potions from blue butterfly wings are worth more than your armour!

Erm' Ooops! Um' NO NO! Of course I think its dreadful that someone...who is not anyone around here... would pluck butterfly wings for that...perish the thought....who could do such a thing....some evil alchemist no doubt....no one around here like that....Noooo!

Snakes...well..sure. Snakes are all over, why you can't take a stroll in the wilds without seeing them by the dozens. All the city guards say..if your sleeping rough..watch out for them snakes heh!

~ THE TAMRIEL TIMES ~

A recent report has seen a dramatic drop in Luna Moth numbers amid the new butterfly hunting restrictions. It is thought, they are being targeted by invisible, healthy, light armoured alchemists.

OK...OK ALREADY....it was me. I'll be good now. I guess I can substitute bear claws, hanging moss, snowberries and hagraven claws to get the same effects I need.

THIS is why potions and poisons are so expensive.....if you make it harder on me...I have to charge more...its business....

I don't recall seeing a snake at all.

As for the bunny counter, I started killing bunnies for it, but after I killed my first bunny I felt bad. I think after killing my third bunny I had to start a complete new game because I felt my character was tainted. lol.

SKYRIM MORNING HERALD

Special Financial Report

As the shadow of financial claps looms over Skyrim, Media outlets across Skyrim are coming forward and are revealing the magnitude of the sandal.

The front page of ~THE TAMRIEL TIMES~ read like this QUOTE: "a dramatic drop in Luna Moth numbers" & "they are being targeted by invisible, healthy, light armored alchemists"

Potions today reached the new record price of 500septims just for a minor healing potion.

The Skyrim Stock Market collapsed again for the third day strait, as Jarls & Thanes rushed to sell there shares.

It has been rumored that they are investing there shares in a more respectable offshore Panama-based service provider called Mossack Fonseca

A spokes man for the Skyrim Treasury said: "Its not our fault we took such drastic measures by banning wing plucking, people where complaining, and animal rights groups where about to get involved in the case."

continuing he said: "Its the greedy Alchemist Corporation that has failed to show any compassion to its heavy users & potion addicted customers by jacking up the price, if you want to place any blame, they have caused this financial chaos"

In other related news Pro Ban Wing Plucking Supporters clashed yesterday with members of the greedy Alchemist Corporation in Solitude. Angelina's Aromatics was burnt to the ground in retaliation for her over priced potions & for selling butterfly wings under the counter. Due to the Civil unrest across Skyrim, it can now be revealed form leaked footage from the Pentagon on Wiki Leaks that there has been a steady build up of Military Forces along the Imperial & Stormcloack borders & that its only a mater of time before this breaks out into the second Skyrim Civil War!
