Help! I am murderer.

How can I proceed when I am wanted for murder, most likely in Riften? I am not a member of the Thieves guild but have no objection to joining.

Correct me if I am wrong, but won't your crime go away if you wait outside of riften for 3 days?

Never had my bounty removed just for not being in a region.

Anyway, pay the gold or serve the sentence. Or join the thieves guild and pay them.

Solved my problem by going to the palace at Riften where a guard gave me the chance to pay the fine instead of attacking.

Only thing about paying the fine through normal means in Skyrim is that you lose any stolen loot you had in your inventory. Join the Thieves Guild and then you can pay half the cost of the fine to the guards and keep the stolen loot. Of course you have to progress far enough with the random missions that Delvin and Vex give.

Or pay your fine, then sneak back into the jail and steal everything from the evidence chest. Just don't get caught doing it.

For the future I would suggest sheathing your weapon. They should accept your surrender on the first try.

Just make some money in the other holds and pay your fine. That's the only thing you can do. If you are too worried about losing stolen goods, just stash them somewhere, and go back to get them after the fine is payed.
