Completist character

Post » Sun Oct 30, 2016 9:02 am

Have you made a character that you made to complete all the quests and explore all the locations? I'd like at least one that has acquired all or most of the unique artifacts and unlocked all the locations on the map. It's sort of useful for modding if nothing else. I'm working on one now trying to complete the guilds and talking to tavern keepers about rumors. Asking about work seems less useful as you get the randomized quests.

No. I have no interest in ever doing such a thing.

I may have considered it as some point but I never got that far. In over a thousand hours of gameplay all of my characters were retired long before they could complete everything.

Yes, I'm such a completionist. I completed all achievements, cleared all dungeons and maxed out all skills with one character (at least as complete as you can when there are two sides to choose from). Unfortunately it seemed I hadn't hard saved at all throughout the playthrough, so lost him! Starting this again on SE.

I've tried, but it never works for me. The problem is that I create a backstory and personality for each of my characters. If I try to complete all of the quests on one, then it muddles with my RP and I lose interest in the character. My best bet is to create 3 different characters, and then each one takes on the various major quests.

I'm not one of those who feels the need to RP. I just play for the fun of it and do whatever I feel like doing, pretty much on a whim, whilst playing. Which is why the one playthrough I had on the 360 version had completed the main questlines for the Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild and the Companions. I never did get around to picking a side on the war though.

I play mostly to discover the sites and the stories of the various characters. Actually since Morrowind I have never finished any of the main quests or all of the guild/side quests. I'd like to do so with one character. Probably my next character will do few if any quests and just wander around exploring.

I spent more time in "Oblivion" than most people spent in "Morrowind", "Oblivion" and "Skyrim".

I do not have all the achievements for this game because with "Oblivion" especially the game is character driven and about your own character's choices and some of the achievements involve stuff none of my characters ever actually wanted to do.

It's one of those things where just because you "can" do something doesn't necessarily mean you should.

I did this with Skyrim when it first came out. The fact that there are no differences in the races and that with those stupid towers you can change your special abilities and that because there are no restrictions in the game you can create one player that is the best at everything there is little no replayability in this game.

I say all that to say that, YES I did create a charcter in the first one and did everything and I'll probably do it again here.

I found myself unable to continue a character once they died

Not sure why or how this happened - but I spontaneously played DID - it just went that way

I think it may be because I invested thought and care into each character and lost interest in them once they died

So I never got anywhere near completion of anything

Barely touched the main quest or any of the major questlines

Very odd

I've thought about doing this. I haven't actually done it though.

Run 3 characters at a time. One roleplaying, one just wandering and exploring (possibly dead is dead), and one you work on from time to time as a completist.

I have a role-play strategy I use to do this, which funny enough, I essentially just posted in the thread "What should my next character build be?"

Long story short, start good, do good quests, fall to evil from some strange event, do all the evil quest, or vice versa. You can also have another epiphany turn again. Thus you can go Good/Evil/Good on one play through.
