Question for the PC players

Post » Sun Oct 30, 2016 7:56 pm

Is it weird to you guys that mods are on console now? I'm interested in hearing you guys opinions on this. Do you think in the long run this will be even a good thing for PC players since more people will be using and making mods?

Though I'll always be a PC gamer, I'm very happy that console gamers finally have access to mods. :)

Cheers.

I don't see any disadvantages for us PC players.

Just happy for all the new people who may start enjoying mods now.

It's also another small step to bring consoles and the PC closer to each other.

As a primarily PC gamer, I think the system that Bethesda/Microsoft/Sony have put in place regarding mods is excellent. If I played on console (especially Xbox One) I'd be a very happy gamer now. :)

Seeing all the new threads today, there will be a lot of education needed on how to use mods well. Oblivion already had a fair good amount of documentation for that after 5 years, but AFAIK it's been 5 years for Skyrim already and I'm surprised there aren't much in the way of mod use FAQ, how to's, or even tutorial even for PC mod use. People will need to learn how to discern between actual vanilla bugs and glitches caused by mods. They still need to know it's user beware.

Although all the quest marker and aspect ratio issues are not helping.

*shrug* Why would it matter to me (PC user, no interest in consoles ever) that console players have mods? Non-sequitur time.... And I don't think it means more people will be making mods. Those who know how to mod this game will either transfer their mods to consoles - or they won't. They will still make mods for PCs.

Lots of apples and oranges there. But as far as console players having mods now, well, that's a GOOD thing.

What's weird is that mods were not available for consoles before

The more people making and playing mods the better - PC or console

Skyrim had many more mod tutorials on external sites than Oblivion did, thanks to folks like Gopher. Plus the modding utilities (Bash, TESxEdit, USLEEP, etc.) are much, much better now. But there's still a lot of good stuff around here if you look for it, and are willing to spend the time to learn.

It's fine with me. The whole idea of TES is "do what you want, and be who you want to be," so this is a step in the right direction.

On a slightly different tack: I think that the line is blurring between "consoles" and "PCs" now. Consoles are not just "game boxes" any more.

I suspect that consumer-grade Windows PCs are going to become pretty rare in future. Most people do everything on a mobile device that used to be done on PCs, including casual gaming.

we have not entered it yet we are just at the start ............this is the NEW MOD ERA ............and its going to change how all games across the board a played forever

we must never forget that its because of the Skyrim mods that the Elder Scrolls bugs where fixed, and graphics where improved by a good 100%, .......

what mods did was that they gave PC gamester's the so called SSE two or three years early, many are claiming that the have a better result in the old game using ENB ext ....................

the SSE has only just caught up with the modded game in quality but not in bug fixes

what will happen is...................

it will be the moder's that will fix all the bugs

it will be the moder's that correct any unbalances in the game

it will be the moder's that will design the best menus and utilities

it will be the moder's that will give us new playable content

it will be the moder's that will improve all the meshes and take the graphics one step futher

the age of modding is just starting across all platforms ................just feel blessed that you are alive to live it and tell you grandchildren about it

so I think there will be no disadvantage to the PC ..............on the contrary it will make them stronger

there will always be a gap between mods on a PC compared to ones on Xbox one & PS4 ..............the only reason is HARDWARE ..................at the moment consoles are way behind

Well, I did try find some link using Google and wasn't very successful. Perhaps you could post some? Bash and TES5Edit won't be available for console system players to use.

I made a thread earlier today saying how grateful I am to the PC crowd for making mods for us console players. Seriously, thank you.

I'm happy that everyone can enjoy mods now. A little less happy that Sony has ridiculous restrictions in place and many players will be disappointed when they discover "the full power of PC mods" was a lie. But overall, it's a great development. :)
