I'll tell you what's Special about this edition: NOTHING.

Post » Sat Nov 05, 2016 4:19 pm

Started the game, people dying in mid-air, butterflies still carry me across the skies, people sweeping without a broom, people sitting and drinking not in chairs, people still bumping me off screen when i'm talking to somebody, people still in way my blocking doors, no jumping while sprinting, Giants who are aggro still walk through honey while after you at times looking like they diarrhea'd their shorts, people talk over each other, inventory UI still obtrusive, doesn't say whether you'd already learned the spell or not, no Survival mode (which hopefully it comes in a patch eventually they're not talking about), textures still look bad as if a painter took some of that Giant's diarrhea and painted over the world, etcetera, etcetera ,crietnctera....

SO PLEASE. TELL ME. NOW WITHOUT EXTERNAL ASSETS ON PS4, WHAT IS SO SPECIAL? Special is a branding that Bethesda gave the names themselves. It's one thing to call it a Remaster, but all these years later.... there needs to be improvements to be special.

I FORGOT!!!! The game doesn't look cold anymore. I despise almost 100% ENB mods! What's with the saturation? It's not eerily chill and misty anymore. Maybe the worst thing about this version!

I do appreciate the intense fogginess and vegetation everywhere. That is beautiful. Shadows & buddha rays are also just as beautiful. Heh, it's like I don't even realize the shadows are there, where before they stood out over everything.

Sorry not sorry, graphics don't count as "remaster". Even then, it falls short.

The big question is: HOW DO YOU GUYS MANAGE AND PUT UP WITH THIS??

Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Peace and love.

The graphics were overhauled, the game is 64 bit and it's available on current gen consoles. That's all Bethesda promised from day one.

The remastered game is great.

Looks fantastic. So smooth as well.

It's a shame that PC and Playstation held things back because being able to perform actions by speaking them aloud was really cool.

For a mere console peasant like myself, the special edition is a MASSIVE upgrade and mods are just the icing on the cake that have breathed new life into poor old Skyrim. Bit bummed about cheevos being disabled but i'll live.

Who said anything about someone lying? Special Edition didn't get much coverage before its release anyhow. Just talking about what is a so-called remaster. I never said promises were broken.

How is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition not remastered?

It's 64-bit now.

It's as volumetric godrays and volumetric lighting.

The draw distance is bigger.

You can see reflections of items sitting on tables if you look closely. Even the boots of NPC's in Inns you can see them walking around on the stone floors.

On PC the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on Steam you can have 1,000 Imperial soldiers fight 100 dragons, etc at 60FPS if you have a very good PC. Heck it might even be possible to fight 10,000 NPC's.

The textures resolutions in most places look better.

What more do you want? A overhaul of the combat system?

Your complaints just seem kind of silly to be honest. Bethesda made it clear that there wouldn't be any bug fixes (and I believe they did fix the lip sync and rain/snow clipping issues anyway), new animations, UI revamps or any type of survival mode. There probably wasn't a lot of coverage simply because there's not a lot to talk about but a quick Google search will tell you what was changed and what wasn't. I don't think there's any reason to be disappointed unless you bought the game blind and were expecting huge changes and if that's the case, I think it's on you.

I've been playing on my Xbox, I've been very pleasantly surprised so far.
