I just read part of a very interesting thread on immersion and it got me thinking about my gaming preference.


Since playing Skyrim with it's open world where you can literally do anything and have fun I am unable to go back to linear games and spend any time with them because in there single path fashion they seem exactly like those button mashing games from the 80s/90s where all that you did was press forward and mash one button non stop so it was basically just a test of your stamina.


Im sure that many of you here are true gamers that enjoy all games which im not and noticing this brought on a realization that Skyrim is more than a game to me I can doing nothing but hunt for hours and it encourages a very peaceful thought process it's very theraqeutic.


I play sports and racing games sometimes but those are,you know different.


So I guess that Skyrim is the only game for me currently until I get my internet connection anyways I've read of this game called Ark that's supposed to be good so ill check that out,I play the Fallout series occasionally because they are like Skyrim.


I can't believe that Bethesda doesn't make more DLCs for Skyrim I mean it seems like they would get freaking rich doing that,or more so.

Yes, the Bethesda style of open world rpg is very addictive and after every TES game I played (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim) I had a hard time going back to linear rpg's. This feeling eventually fades and luckily I go back to other games too, because otherwise I would miss a lot of great games. But the first one year or more after a new TES is released I am almost exclusively playing TES.
