Skyrims release date November 11, 2011

My pc does not seam to be taking this 6 year old game to well, even with no mods But everything is maxed i get fairly bad FPS.

Looking at a mountain in the distance, right after the escape before we get to town.

FPS =46

looking at a group of NPC's

FPS =36-46

I find view distance to be the biggest contribute to my FPS, lowering it all to min gives me 70 fps on all other settings max..

Utilization

Cpu average is 44%

Gpu 1% to 99% Jumping around even looking straight at a mountain. 1,20,55,55,99,1,2,15%

Max memory usage is 4000MB with another 3000MB to spare

My system does not seem to be over burdened with the game at all but my frame rate is fairly bad.

My settings

Skyrim SE

everything max

REZ:1080

Vsynic in ini disabled.

AMD settings

everything set to application vsync off

Shader, amd opt

tessellation amd opt

Texter filtering, performance.

My rig ( nothing special)

AMD 8350 no oc but i could.

MSI 970 gamer

8 gigs pc1600 ( bottle neck? )

sapphire 480 8gb OC edition

OCz SDD.

Windows 10

everything updated on a fresh install.

is this a case of new tech not so good for old game? or just a really [censored] PC? i do play other games ( fallout 4 with 80 FPS average, War thunder ground forces 100 FPS, dues Ex mankind 60 fps average.

Make sure the GPU is set to max performance in the driver profile. It's under the power management setting I think.

You have an AMD GPU not a 970 nvidia. Are you playing Skyrim original or Skyrim SE?

Also you want to have V-Sync on or at least cap the FPS 60. The physics engine gets wonky if it is running over 60 FPS
