The Mace of Molag Bal
I have been lurking here for many years but only recently made a profile to post. I got Skyrim SE for my Xbox one on release day and have since put in about 5 days of solid play time (just over 120 hours so far). Last night I acquired the Oblivion Walker achievement, something I never achieved before due to the few missable items/quests.
So I spent sometime with every Daedric artifact playing around with them all, and while the Ebony blade is cruel and the Wabbajack can be really fun there is just something special about the Mace of Molag Bal. I play an archer (who doesn't?) but also use sword and board for by back up skill. So by the time I got the mace my one hand was in the 70's. For some background on my Dragonborn, I always get smithing and enchanting up to 100 and perk the skill trees. So I have an enchanted dragonbone sword that does more damage then the mace and has better enchantments but I was still able to push the Mace to "Legendary" with some smithing improvement gear, despite the mace being slightly weaker I can't help but use it constantly.
It was just something about the quest house of horrors, the way Molag Bal speaks to you with such supreme confidence. The cruelty when he has you trick the priest of Boethiah to go back to his shrine to be trapped and bludgeoned to death multiple times until he fully submits, and swears even his soul to Molag Bal. So then what does the Lord of Domination do? He instructs you to crush his bones with the rusty mace, yet again, so that he may torment and dominate his soul in oblivion forever. Then you are rewarded for your loyal service, with none other than the Mace of Molag Bal which has by far one of the best weapon models in game if you ask me..
So despite it doing almost 100 points less in damage than my dragonbone sword I love going around Skyrim just crushing people into a pulp with the Mace of my favorite Daedric Lord knowing he is smiling down on me as I extinguish the weak and let his mace feast of their blood. Not that the other artifact's aren't special in their own right but there is no compare to the green glowing crushing Mace of Molag Bal.
What is your Favorite Daedric artifact? Anyone have any fun stories of using their preferred item to impress their favorite Daedric Lord?
