Before i start lett me tell you that i play Video games for a living and do this quite for a long time now.
And yes im one of those old Farts who remembers Arena and Daggerfall which by todays standard are horrible to watch.
But on the other hand i also remember Pac Man and the First zelda on the Game boy. Ocarina of Time on N64 Man those where games.......
But enough of the Nostalgia.
Im here because of the Mods issue. An yes sry im late on this but i cant play every game like i want to ^^
I use Mods in my Games since Oblivion. Never ever did i get punished for using them.
When i heard Bethesda is officialy supporting Mod Content Creators i was sure this would benefit us PC Users but even the console users alot.
Man was i wrong. Not only does this punish ppl with new content in their Games but also ppl who install Bug Fixes or patches to fix some glitches.
I didnt get to play last months so i was shocked when i got my SE of Skyrim and started installing mods to only read that i wont get achievments if i have them installed.
With over 600 Hours of the original Skyrim with Mods an alot of its achievments im kinda not sure if i should get pissed af or just shake my head in disbelieve of such nonsense.
I used Mods on Fallout 3 to the point where you dont know how Vanilla even looked like and had a lot of fun with it.
I used Mods on New Vegas to the point where it took me almost a year to do all the stuff that was in the game with all the new content i didnt wanna miss.
I used Mods on Oblivion to the point where you would think the Body models where just made recently ago and the fighting was actually with mods harder then without.
I modded Skyrim to the Point where you would have to eat and sleep and watch not to get wet or freeze to death in the open. Where you could adopt children and build your own Camp for the night. Fight agains the other factions depending on which side you chose randomly wherever you go.
And never ever got i locked out of achievments.
So the question is why do this? Because it gets easier with mods is that what you imply? What mods did you install then pls? I never heard of any mod making the game easier. The opposite is true.
I list some of the ones im always used on the Vanilla Skyrim before the SE Version was avaliable!
- SkyUI (Makes the unorganized interface organized)
- Immersive Weapons. (more weapons to craft but also harder to get)
- immersive Armor. (more armors to craft but also harder to get)
- Enhanced Blood. (more realistic if you ask me)
- Immersive Patrols. (Every major faction will have random battles across the entire map and siege castles to rule over certain areas. It makes the feeling of a civil war going on more realistic)
- Frostfall. (If you get wet and dont start a fire with firewood you will freeze to death)
- Unofficial Skyrim Patch (Fixes alot of bugs and glitches which are still existing in the SE version of Skyrim)
- Unoffical Syrim Patch Legendary Edition ( Fixes the same bugs and glitches in the SE Version of Skyrim. So a mod to fix stuff that is buggy since 2012)
- Skyrim 2K HD Textures.
- Cloaks of Skyrim (Yes i like fancy cloaks on my characters like in Game of Thrones some with hood some without)
- Unofficial Dawnguard Patch ( you guessed it Bugfix Bugfix and Bugfix in this one)
- Unoffical Dragonborn Patch ( right another Bugfix mod)
- Unofficial Hearthfire Patch ( yes Bugfix)
- Realistic Ragdoll and Force (If i shoot a guy with an arrow and he flies 20 meters thats not really realistic)
- Skyrim Flora Overhaul ( Makes the Landsacpe of Skyrim look way better. And i mean wwaaaayy better)
- Enhanced Lights and FX ( Install it believe me you thank me later)
- A Dance of Death (Killmoves cam for everyone)
- The Eyes of Beauty (Way better looking eyes for everyone)
To name a few. Yes some of them cant work with one another but that doesnt change the fact that none of those mods cheat you anything into the game to make it easier. Its way harder with them but the game looks and feels SOOOOOOOOO much better you cant imagine.
I dont get why everyone who uses such stuff now gets punished and not allowed to use them anymore.
And i know your arguments to defend this policy already.
Bethesda wants you to experience their Game without Mods. (Why support Modders then? How the f does this make any sense?)
Bethesda thinks you cheat in your game with mods. (I have over 200 Mods not one adds me stuff into the game to make it easier. And i know not one mod who does so wtf?)
But you dont need Achievments for your Game experience. (You dont need to climb a mountain or win a marathon but when you do you achieved something.)
If you want achievements you need to play without mods. (Which brings me back to the question why is Bethesda supporting modders then?)
Its not only Skyrim but Fallout 4 is also involved. (Which again brings the question why you then support the modding community?)
Its like the responsible ppl of Bethesda in this matter are suffering from schizophrenia! They support the modding communty and give them the oppurtunity to spread their mods over the official Tool given by Bethesda.
And on the other hand punish everyone who is using said Mods provided by said tools. How does that make any sense?
The Solution is so simple
Either support the modders and the ones using the mods or no one at all. Not the Modders and not the Players who use the mods. Anything other then that is just a contradiction in itself. You cant have one without the other and quite franky im highly dissapointed by this policy.
After 25 years of support this is the first time a policy of this company makes me highly disappointed and will probably lead to me not supporting them anymore.
Ah pls cry somewhere else you are getting pissed by not getting achievments cmon man its not that much of a deal.
Its maybe new to some of the younger folks but when i pay for a game it becomes my proberty as long as i dont break the law with the material.
Since modding is allowed and since the creation kit was given to the community for exactly the purpose of making mods this policy is quite frankly [censored].
Cause customers who paid for their product cant use a certain part of it because said Mods are now no longer accepted it seems. And only the older folks remember that Bethesda was always a company you could bet your ass on would allow mods and help the community by creating more content. By giving tools etc.
it seems those times are over.
TL:DR
Regardless if you use Mods to add Content, Make the Game harder or even just to fix some bugs and glitches you wont get any achievment because Bethesda accuses you simply of cheating.
Mods are not Cheats they are content added to the game. Sometimes old stuff shines in new glory and sometimes completely new stuff gets added.
But the bottom line is. Mods are added content.
And not Cheats.
Which is a joke in itself considering the Fact that you still can use the console cheats ingame and get all the achievments in a non modded game. WTF is this Bethesda?
And pls dont give me the "Use a Mod to reenable Achievments on Steam" answer. Its about the point that Mod creators get supported but mod Users get punished. Thats just a joke.
Like you would support your Local bakery but punish everyone who consumes their product. Does that makes sense? No? Cause this here does neither.
So what does Bethesda officialy said to this crap? For what reason exactly cant we get mods and achievments?
