Can't play game from different accounts.

Post » Mon Nov 21, 2016 8:08 pm

My son downloaded special ed Skyrim, and it works for him when he is using his Steam account.

But when I wan't to start the game when online on Steam with my account, steam wants to download it again. This is of course unnecessary, since we have played the 'old' Skyrim with the same game and different Steam acc's all the time.

The new game is installed on another hard drive than the old one so as not to 'collide'. And like I said, it works when using his steam acc.

What should I do? This is on a pc with Windows xp, 12 mb ram, 4 core processor and new nividia graphic card.

More details if need be.

Greatful for any help.

Do you have a Steam Library folder set up to point to where the game is installed? You can check by going to the 'Steam' menu in the upper left of the Steam application, 'Settings' then 'Downloads' and then the first option there 'Content Libraries' with the button 'Steam Library Folders'. There should be an entry for the Steam folder on the desired hard-drive, if not add it.

Also check that you both have Family Library Sharing enabled under the Family tab in Settings.
