I was walking around gathering ingredients, (near the first camp you see if you part ways with whoever you chose and turn left, head over the hill there. Little camp under the mountain overhang. Unmarked) two Thalmor were there, three dead Stormcloaks that I saw.

I approached the corpses and the elves became threatening. I dispatched them. Finishing, I looked around for more flowers, to my surprise Gerdur was dead in some bushes.

I thought she never left Riverwood?

Near that camp if you part ways with whoever escorted you during tutorial dungeon. Turn left when they suggest parting ways, go over the hill to a little camp under an overhang in the mountain. A skill book is next to the chest, you get attacked when you open it.

Oh noez they are getting off their loops!


Seriously though, that is weird! I've never seen Gerdur leave Riverwood.

Well they are dead now but that is bizarre. The uesp has nothing about her ever leaving Riverwood either.

Do you have any mods that revamp NPC schedules? Immersive Citizens: AI Overhaul for instance has some NPCs occasionally visit nearby towns and whatnot. If not, then I have no idea why she would leave Riverwood.

Gerdur DOES leave Riverwood occasionally. I followed her one time just to see where she was going early in the morning. Anyway, she walked up the mountain at the back side of Riverwood, up past Helgen to near the Stormcloak camp[, then she came back by a way that would take her near to where you're saying you found her.
