So, I know that if you want a follower to be able to capture souls with their soul-trap weapons, you cannot just give them soul gems; you have to drop them, one at a time, and ask the follower to pick them up, one at a time. Is that right, or is there an easier way?

Also, if it is right, and you have just spent ages dropping gems and asking Lydia to pick them up, one-by-bloody-one, is there any way to stop her waiting till your back is turned to then drop half of them on the floor again?
