Console Achievements

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2016 5:01 pm

I think they could have done something different with Achievements for Skyrim SE, I guarantee alot of console players will not use mods because they disable Achievements........................I was in that boat, i thought mods would be just cheat mods, to make the game easier, but there are some awesome immersion mods, which i could not play without now, my 1 st character had a bug and Dawnguard DLC would not progress, i was going for all the achievements, since Dawnguard bugged out, i decided to use the unofficial patch, since then i,ve tried tons of mods and achievements are out the window, there is no way i could go back to the vanilla game.

Beth could of added the achievements, just for hours played, just 10 achievements all to do with hours played.................also if i want to use frostfall and camping, to make my game harder, more immersive, why should this disable Achievements, 50% of mods are immersive mods, or just make the game harder. The fact that mods disable achievements means a large percentage of console players will never touch mods, out of maybe 10 people on my friends list, who play Skyrim SE, im the only person using mods.

Another example is, i played Fallout 4 ALOT, never touched any mods, because of Achievements, but now, i,m looking forward to going back to my game and modding the hell out of it. B)

ONCE YOU MOD, YOU CANT GO BACK.

Personally, I don't like achievements as they appeal to much to my OCD and end up ruining my experience. I end up chasing achievements rather than enjoying the game *in the now*. I'm much more relieved having achievements turned off.

Achievements are for the kiddies.

The only proper use would be to entice the Player to do something that would NOT ordinarily be completed.

Just dropping an achievement on Normal Game Play is a waste.

As far as disabling achievements for Modding... why make it harder for the Game's Publisher to code for specific mods, Bethesda has enough problem producing a glitch free game.

Modder's deserve a "penalty" for messing with the game code. If anybody should be concerned with losing the Achievements it should be the publisher of the Mod. Let them work out a way to circumvent the situation.

I see it as so-called "Modders" are nothing but brick layers. Someone else puts together a mod and the users consider themselves the "Modder" when they are just laying a brick into the game.

So called 'achievements' don't have any place in RPGs, in my opinion. Character motivation should dictate player actions, not the pursuit of some little e-trophy participation award that pats you on the head for ticking off another checkbox of meaningless tasks in a video game.

Modding is easily one of the best features of Bethesda games, and can greatly extend both the life and freshness of your experience. Anyone prioritizing 'achievements' over mod use quite frankly doesn't deserve mods. As to modders deserving a 'penalty' for messing with game code ... if the lack of 'achievements' is that penalty, then I say 'Sold!'. I would reverse the emphasis, though. "Achievement" chasers deserved the 'penalty' of losing mods for even allowing 'achievements' to be a consideration. :P

What gets me is that people assume that it's only Bethesda's call do disable achievements. Sony and Microsoft may have had something to do with it.

With that being said, I'm happy that mods disable achievements. They get annoying. Good riddance.
