Texture update and modding safely

Noble Dovahkiins,

here I come again to ask for your gentle advice.

I started to play again after a long time, since I installed the special edition (the standard Skyrim was extremely modded and CTD all the time).

Now, after some work with reshade/ENB, I finally found the perfect balance for visual tweaks and I'm quite satisfied with the outcome: eventually I can play instead of modding!

Here comes the concern: I'd like to get the ultimate Skyrim HD experience by following the SETOG guide on NMM. So far I only installed Osmodius HD textures, so I miss all the NobleSkyrim HD mods. I don't want *by any mean* to start again having CTDs, so I keep modding to a minimum and mainly avoid heavy scripts.

Questions:

1. what is the best way of backing up the game to try out new mods? Will copying all the folder structure (game/saves/ini) suffice? If I only install texture mods, I should be able to rollback to the current "baseline" in case of issues

2. Am I missing something worth by not installing all the NobleSkyrim HD pack? Does it add much to Osmodius? E.g. I currently have low res dungeons now and I don't like them much.

3. I already installed Osmodius, but SETOG guide suggests to install NobleSkyrim before. Should I uninstall Osmodius and start all over?

4. I have a mod modifying Whiterun, which is causing me issues when I uninstall/deselect it (textures missing). Is this fixed by installing NobleSkyrim HD pack? Is there a way to revert back to vanilla Whiterun textures before applying new texture mods?

For many reasons I don't want to use Wrye Bash, far too complicated and honestly more of an hassle than a reward.

Thank you so much,

Max
