Bouncing from 15fps to 45-55fps randomly. How can I fix?

Post » Sun Dec 25, 2016 1:04 am

I'm running a heavily modded game (375 mods) and I generally can run between 45 and 60 fps (averages 45 in cities, 55 elsewhere) easily on Ultra with this load. But sometimes, especially when I go into a city or town, it drops to 15fps for a bit and then shoot back up, then it might drop back down and so on. Does anyone know if there are some settings I can tweak in general that can help keep it as close to 60fps as possible? Can load order and not cleaning the files impact this as well? I'm not having any CTD's, it's only frame rate.

Likely you have too many mods installed.

What are your pc specs and the mods you installed as well as the load order?

I'd eat mushrooms (that I hate with a passion) to be able to run skyrim on my laptop without overheating, let alone with over 375 mods xD

My intel HD4000 laptop can run Skyrim at pretty much locked 60FPS on lowest settings with some ini tweaks.

@OP Get yourself a solid state drive. Sounds like a texture load issue. If not then reduce object, item and NPC draw distance. The difference between full and half full is not that noticable imo.

I doubt that. Maybe 30fps with ini tweaks.

[edit] if we are talking about old skyrim.
