Hi, and thanks for checking this thread.
I tried finding an existing thread but couldn't find a specific answer to my question. Hopefully we can figure this out - I'd really like to share this mod with the community and I think a lot of people would like it.
I'm trying to make the guard NPC's in Skyrim actually sound like they are wearing a helmet when they speak.
TL,DR
- I am trying to replace the maleguard voice files with modded files. I have every step complete except for getting the files to successfully replace the vanilla sound files.
Details
- extracted 1,060 sound files using Fallout Mod Manager
- converted the .fuz files to .xma then to .wma
- used Audacity to apply my desired effects on the 1,060 files
- just need to learn how to replace the vanilla files with my modded files
Questions
- do my modded file names have to be exactly the same as the vanilla files? right now they all have "-2" at the end of their names.
- I tried just dropping the files into my Skyrim Directory (Skyrim/Data/Sound/Voice/Skyrim.esm) but that didn't work. is there somewhere else i should place them?
- do I need to re-convert everything to .fuz before it will work? or can i just keep everything in .wma format?
Thanks in advance for any advice or help you can spare. I appreciate it immensely! I will definitely shoot you some credit when I make this available on the Nexus.

~**UPDATE - SOLVED**~
- I changed the file names so that they match exactly with the vanilla file names
- I used Unfuzer to re-fuz the 1,060 files
- I placed those files into my Skyrim directory
- after some troubleshooting, I renamed my master file within the Skyrim directory to "MaleGuard" and voila! it works!
- The only thing I need to do now is to find and convert the deeper sounding guard's voice files (the default maleguard files only includes the higher pitched guard voice) so that I can mod those too and cover all the guard voice files.
- I also need to find the female version for guard dialogue and convert those files for modding as well.
- Any information as to where those files are could expedite the process, so thanks in advance!
