Problems installing Downloadable-content

Post » Tue Jul 13, 2010 4:33 am

I have downloaded "Wizard's tower" and "Spell tomes" (what else) yet installation fails. It tells me it cannot find my game installation (it is on E: not C: which might be the problem?)

Any ideas on how to solve this? I have bought the game legitimately and it is not a warez version (I can happily post a screenshot or the manual...)

If you are using a 64 bit system, the DLC's may not work. You may be able to get them to install correctly by reinstalling Oblivion itself. Fortunately, the installshield does not erase mods, just the Vanilla files.

My system uses a 32-bit architecture, perhaps I should have included that in the original post. I do not have Shivering Isles and I have the game patched with the latest 1.2.0 patch.

If you start Oblivion through Wrye Bash, then you could install Oblivion onto your C-drive and then install the DLC's. The DLC's are Bsa/esp and swapping the files onto your E-drive should be fairly simple.

Ok, I will have to look up exactly what that is as I have no clue...By what you are saying it should then be fairly intuitive installing the Mods like any of the unofficial mods...

All of the DLC's have a BSA file and an esp file. The easiest solution is to reinstall Oblivion and then install the DLC's. You just need to remember to change the install path when you install Oblivion from C:\Program Files\Betheda Softworks\Oblivion to E:\Games\Oblivion (or whatever you are using as the install path) so the DLC's can be installed into the Oblivion\Data on your PC. Most mods do not have copyright protection built into them like the DLC's

Ok, I followed your instructions, disregarding the Python program and opting for the easiest solution.

1) Installed Oblivion from the CD onto my main root-drive (C:)

2) Installed both plug-ins.

3) Copied the ESP and BSA files onto my E drive.

4) Launched Oblivion Mod Manager: Create Omod, selected ESP files it created both mods successfully.

5) Uninstalled Oblivion on C:

After all this I ventured to the tower but it looks anything but a tower, with the famed yellow markers (apparently some glitch with placeable objects? I am not too sure...)

Do you have the BSA files for both DLC's inside of your Oblivion\Data folder? The yellow means you are missing a mesh. If the object is invisible/black/purple you do not have the texture.

Ok, solved. Missing a BSA file in the Data folder, apparently the creation of the Omod did not import it automatically.

Thanks a lot for your help dude.
