[REQ] More lifelike mannequins

Post » Wed Jul 14, 2010 7:04 am

Wooden and marble mannequins are pretty standard among mods for Oblivion, but there are very few that offer lifelike flesh-toned ones, and none that include a set of the races for both sixes. I can't speak for anybody else, but I prefer to put my armor sets on mannequins that look like people. So far, I've been using http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10852, but that's only female, and only of four races. Any assistance in going for a full set would be gratefully appreciated.

Way to make them life like(I never tried it, though):
- Those mannequins are actually NPCs with unplayble race. So, by changing their skin textures to any skin texture you want to use, you can get 'life-like' ones. (Yes, yes, no need to use Construction Set)

I'm afraid I don't understand, but I wouldn't know how to make them. I'm asking for somebody to make a set of flesh-textured male and female ones for the various races that they would then put on sale in the stores. If it's not that difficult, all the better. And I'm sure it would get great use. :)

There are some statues made from the different races for the vanilla armor sets in my http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19058 - that you could reuse - they are not setup like mannequins where you can change the armors to what you want but are instead more statues with their armors\weapons on them setup as containers that can store things (I use them to store the various sets of armors in my game (ie. the glass statue holds all of my glass armor sets etc.) - I made them this way because I've always had problems with mannequins moving around in game due to them actually being NPCs that are frozen in place and used to have an older machine with a fairly weak CPU so having several NPC's on screen even with them frozen effected my FPS.

They look very good, and it appears that they can be posed, too. Am I wrong about that? And I assume that what you store in the container, actually shows up on the mannequin. Why not consider offering these container-mannequins for sale in your store? Assuming they can be moved once dropped, and you've got male and female for the various races, that would be great!

I thought this deserved a bump to see if it could interest anybody who hadn't seen it in doing a series of lifelike mannequins for sale, instead of just wooden and marble varieties. Come on: why should Morrowind have these, and not Oblivion?

Well, if you use Roberts Male/Female, AlienSlof made a retexture of Reznod's mannequins.
Just search Slofs on Tesnexus, it'll show up.

Problem is, AlienSlof's redo doesn't offer flesh textures, but wood/marble. They aren't race-specific, either, and I don't use Roberts female.

Just install the excellent ET IN ARKAY EGO mod:
http://www.etinarkayego.com
or
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21816
My mannequins will never be the same! :twirl: Or female NPCs...
Actually, this mod addresses MALE mannequins and NPCs also.
Extremely high-quality naked bodies (not topless), both genders. And mannequins (which I wasn't expecting).
Great mod. Very impressive quests, which I've just completed.
But the 'after-effects' shall linger forever, heheh...

I've got EIAE installed--have had, for some time, though I've yet to begin the quests. Should I assume the mannequins are only associated with a house you get in the quest? Because I've never seen what you describe in a store, and I'm looking to buy them. Naked or not, doesn't matter: I've got tons of armor and weapons to pose. Or are they in a store associated with new areas added by the mod?

Yeah, I kinda side-stepped your original question (I was so excited about the new 'Spiritus' mod) but you're right, the mannequins are designed to look not-so-human.
I figure there are green ones (marble) and then vaguely flesh-toned ones (wood) that look more human.
They are, after all. They're just NPCs that have been frozen, right? When I stand directly in front of them dead-still, and take my hands off the mouse, I can see them move - they still move a little bit, almost imperceptible...
Anyway I was startled by my mannequins after the new mod installation - they still looked like my mannequins, but totally naked (and anatomically correct). :hehe:
A close inspection of the female torso reveals sort of a breakup of the mottley mannequin texture, but it's still kinda there, still looks like a mannequin.
And very close, from the side there is a distinct skin-like texture that wasn't there before, subtly touched like where each hair follicle would be on a real human.
Actually heheh, now that you mention it it's probably worse for the mannequins than it was before. More life-like stuff that we don't want mannequins to have. :shakehead:
But it's small price to pay for the fantastic job on my NPCs, both genders, it's brilliant. No seams anywhere, it actually fixed some problems for me.
Important: I like being able to be naked now, and guys I'm born 1957 now keep it under yer hats, trust me if you're role-playing Oblivion you need to be naked to sleep, go to the doctor, bathe, sleep with women, etc. I have a kewl wives mod too (and have several :P ) and anyway I've seen real women without their clothes on. Tee hee hee.
I've had an excellent Female Topless mod since ~2007 but this, this new Spiritus mod is a piece of work, it's art.
When you go to the nexus website you must specify the larger Spiritus package containing the additional meshes and textures.
I'm running the guy's main mod late, and bashed patch last, everything nice so far.
He has a perfectly nice quest-mod there that should not need to be behind 'enter your birthdate' anyway...
But I guess you can't have little kids playing the game 'immodestly' as Tolkein would say.
Fantastic mod though, whichever flavour you favour.
We've gotta start a Beth forum thread for this mod, I can't find one...
What's up with the search thing, why is it so disagreeable? It rejects 'Et in Arkay Ego'.

Not to be harsh about it, but I'd like to keep the focus on the reason for this thread:

I have just described to you the most life-like mannequins ever.

With respect, I don't see what you're referring to. When I remove EIAE, the mannequins I buy in the Three Brothers look the same as ever: marble and wood, nicely formed, but no different. That's because there are no mannequin textures in EIAE. I just checked. Something else in your mod lineup must be causing this, unless the spiritus version (which I suspect you are using) includes Slof's redesigned Reznod textures. I've tried those, and they're not bad, but they're still wooden and marble.

Now, when I put in the Exnemized Reznod Mannequin mod that I linked to, above, four of the female mannequins are flesh-toned--in other words, life-like. The textures are completely replaced with human ones, in the appropriate subdirectories:

textures/characters/burlwood/
textures/characters/marble/

What I'd like to see is a continuation of this mod, either with Exnem or without: flesh toned mannequins for all races, and for both genders. Not sure why we can't. Reznod's version 1 had them, but he took them out for some reason in version 2. Both Morrowind and Fallout 3 have them. Why shouldn't Oblivion? :)

Still hoping, as we've gotten a few answers to this thread. Maybe some bright, young modder, eager to be known throughout history for the gratitude of Oblivion players everywhere, will come forth and take on this mod...

...or at least, maybe someone will do it?

There're two ways:
1. Use Construction Set to change mannequin race texture to normal skin texture.
2. Replace mannequin texture with body skin texture.(By copying, renaming, pasting)

The latter doesn't seem to be working well for me, though I'm sure I'm missing something. For example, when I copy over the foot textures that supposedly represent male Redguards, as well as the rest of the generic Imperial heads, I get a bald Imperial with his eyes closed. I mean, that's a start--there's at least a flesh texture. But I'm really trying for a Redguard with hair, who appears to be awake.

If anybody can walk me through this, or through doing this in the CS, I'd be most obliged. Barring someone else taking it on, I'm willing, but I'll need some detailed assistance.

By default, all human race, Altmer and Bosmer use Imperial textures. Although some body replacer use plugin to re-assign individual body textures, without skin tone tweaking, they may look similar. And about hair, you need to give hair to mannequin race first(if you're editing Reznod's), then assign given hairs to mannequin NPC.(you have to use Construction Set this time)

Then it sounds as though this is a major task for someone like me, with little experience.

So it's back to asking if someone can just provide us with a mod that both Morrowind and Fallout 3 have? Because it sounds like a fairly elementary piece of work for someone who already knows how to do it.

Also (I'm not sure, because I've not used a mannequin mod since Morrowind), the marble/wood/whatever effect may be applied via shader, a la mode de your Bruma statue. In which case, I have no clue

For Reznod's mannequin, it uses marble and wood textures for mannequin races.

Exactly. I found that out when I followed your suggestion, and simply replaced some texture files with others. Too bad it doesn't deal shading, hair, etc.

To repeat my request, from earlier in this thread:

Both Fallout 3 and Morrowind have stores that sell a full line of flesh-toned mannequins from all races, both sixes. Would be nice to see that in Oblivion, and I'm surprised we haven't, in the past.
