simple tutorial needed for 3d studio max

well ive fianly gotten to the point in my mod where im needed meshes that i simply cant find. and ive leanred alot of the basics and can make a basic structure though im un sure of a few things such as poly count. and how to make sure that its uv maped properly . if anyone could point me in the dirrection of some real basic tutorials on the subject it would be most appreciated. and if all goes well. ill have a pack of building structures to relase as a resource with alot more goodies to follow. thanks

What version of 3dsmax do you use?

There's a big difference in what tools are avaliable for different versions.

im using 3d studio max 9 . i already have the nif importer and exporter. as i had to import a basic house to get an idea of size and shape

thank you i will watch that and see how it goes. ive had it for a while now. but only been attempting to learn it for about 3 days thanks agian for the link. so many tutorials say for beginners. then state that their tutorial assumes that you know a whole list of stuff. so then i have to find tutorials on the stuff that its assuming i know .
