since the article was so combat-centric, if there were new kinds of weapons or armors, they probably would have been mentioned unless they are important to the MQ.

Too soon, we have nothing about weapon and armor types.

The GI mentions only how the new combat system works, no details on equipment.

I haven't heard anything specific about it other than what is shown in the screenshots, but there was in Morrowind, Imperial Dragonscale Armor: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Imperial_Dragonscale_Armor#Imperial_Dragonscale_Armor

Literally the only information we have is from the Game Informer magazine. The only information we know is that you can dual wield, a few names of spells, etc.

That said, at least one screenshot showed something that looks like Glass.

One of the screens looked like it had Elven armor in it. The armor, as well as the mace in it, had a Golden Eagle motif going on with it again (look at the skirt: remind you of feathers?), alluding to Auri-El, the elven interpretation of Akatosh/Alduin.

That's Imperial Dragon armor. Not literal dragon. Symbolic dragon. No dragons were harmed in the making of that armor.
