Better Open Cities causes CTD in Prision

Post » Tue Jul 20, 2010 4:12 am

I've been trying to figure this out for a while now and not getting anywhere so now I'm asking the experts.

As the title says Better Open Cities is causing Oblivion to crash in the prision, a few seconds into the prision in fact. The Dark Elf in the cell across from me starts talking for a bit then CTD.

This is realy frestrating because I spent all of yesterday getting FCOM to work, along with Mighty Magic, Midas Magic, Mighty Umbra, all of the DLC, and Shivering Isles. I also have the unofficial patch.
I also had Unique Landscapes running, but I ruled that out as a problem, and currently have it deactivated for diagnistic purposes as it is the only other mod I have installed this morning.

My load order is what FCOM recommends with, Mighty Magic, Midas Magic, Better Open Cities, and UL at the end of the list.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Nope, it's a pretty complete list I gave. I have a mod that makes the Emperor look not so fugly, but that was the first mod I ruled out as a problem.

It's called Open Better Cities, not Better Open Cities. It is in no way "better" than Open Cities, it is instead an open version of Better Cities. And OBC would not cause a crash in the prison, so it must be one of your other mods.

Well it runs perfectly without Open Better Cities active, so there is some conflict with it that causes a crash in the prision, or some other factor I can't think of.

Have you tried playing for a short time without OBC and then activating it?

If you still get a crash after a few seconds, then it might be a script that is running that is causing the problem.

After playing around some more with it, there does seem to be some kind of script conflict going on. Considering the previous comment about how the mod isn't better than Open Cities, and my misundertanding that this was somehow an upgrade to Open cities I think I just might scrap this and try to make the regular Open Cites mod work. I spent to much time making the other stuff work, I'm not going to mess with them again just to make this one work.

Thanks for the help everyone, sorry to have wasted your time.
