Vault Boy Looks...Different in FO3

Post » Wed Jul 21, 2010 2:20 pm

It's time for another critical mind-boggling question! Has anybody noticed how Vault Boy looks slightly different in http://siliconsasquatch.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/thumbs-up.jpg compared to his incarnation in http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/File:Falloutboy.jpg? I know a different artist draws him in FO3, but I'd still like to know why he looks so different (besides the fact he's in color half the time now).

I'm not sure what it is. The mouth? The eyebrows?

This is of utmost importance. I cannot rest easy until I spot the difference between the two. Humanity rests in your hands. :nuke:

from those two pic's from what I can tell it's the chin.(a different line is used) However you'd be better off getting two pics of them in a similar pose. However it's obvious it's a differnt artist so there's bound to be slight differances. However Vaultboy was one thing Beth got right in my opinion. Everything else that was in FO3 that was in previous games they got wrong I think. AKA Mr. Handy, the weapons etc.

I think they got the deathclaws right too.

By the way, in Fallout: New Vegas, Vault Boy will be drawn by http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Brian_Menze, who made all new Vault Boy images for Fallout 2.

Yes, all the ones in FO2 that were not in FO1. The FO1 ones were drawn by Tramell Ray Isaac.

I *think* the reason for this difference is so the artist leaves his mark.

I always liked his artwork. (Blood & Magic was a favorite RTS that he worked on ~still is a favorite).

His hair dips steeper before it curls in the old version.
The chin line is also different (already mentioned)

He also appears skinnier in the newer version, but that could just be me

The biggest difference is that he's vector art in Fallout 3's promotional materials

In-game most of the icons are straight from the old games but green-ified
