Depends on who you ask. Most seem to loath it, but some genuinely like it. Myself, I've never played it. Its a top down tpp shooter. Seems a bit like Heavy Barrel but with multiple choice dialogs. The art is crude 3d ~Which is to say, not as pretty as most 2d.

I'd suggest Fallout: Tactics if you want a combat-oriented game.

If you're looking for storyline and less combat, then Fallout 2.

Luckily, all three of the first games are found in a single game pack that you can find on Amazon or local brick-and-mortars.

Fallout: Bos is one of the worst games ever made.

Its hard for me to find words to describe how bad it is. Definitely up there with Big Rigs.

Definitely no, this game is horrific. Don't play it even if someone pays you to do it, save your mental health. Buy first and second Fallout. Tactics is not great, but it's still decent game. On GOG.com they're all available for 6$ per game, or you can get all three for 20 bucks on Steam. And don't worry about system requirements. If your computer is able to run Windows 95, you'll be able to play all three without any problems.

Yessir, you can pick the pack up from Amazon, just search for Fallout Triology - 3 Pack Compilation.

I wouldn't discount Tactics, though others might make you think you should. I still think it's overall the best of the three.

Tactics is a spin-off game... Its a mission based combat game that greatly improves the basic TB combat mechanics in Fallout, but turns it off by default :(

It fails badly as an RPG ~But then I don't think its trying or claiming to be one. Unlike Fallout, you basically just do the assigned mission and return for another one.

It cannot compare to the other two in their own element, but combat-wise, its marginally superior.

The CD's are available in online outlets, and any PC made in the last 12 years should be capable of running the first two if not Tactics.

However I'd still recommend the GOG versions... They work without a hitch... Fallout 1 & 2 cd-versions might not.
