Will Skyrim be a great game?

Well, I've enjoyed every Bethesda RPG so far (to varying degrees, but I never thought any were particularly bad), so, yeah, it'll probably be great to me.

Well...

I can't really place my finger on what I didn't like about Oblivion. So I'm a definite 'maybe'.

Although it sounds like they've fixed something, and that something sounds good to me. Some of the changes are a little weird, and I won't know what I think of them until I actually experience them.

But overarching story seems awesome. That's a definite yes.

Obviously. Bethesda is a huge company and with lots of experience in the field and they've been working on this series for years trying to make it better. They can't go wrong. What I saw in GI impressed me too.

What exactly is your definition of "great"? If you go by sales, it will be amazing, guaranteed. If you go by magazine ratings, I'm sure it will grab 95% of whatever scale is used. If you go by what a hard-core TES fan is looking for, it may end up being just a decent game. Mainstream RPGers will likely think it is amazing, while mainstream FPSers will probably hate its complexity, as always.

Until I actually get my hands on my GI issue, I'm going to stick with a "Maybe." From the second-hand info, though, I really do think it will be a fun game. I was very pessimistic about Skyrim at first, but the more info I get on it, the less likely it seems it will be just more-of-the-same (Oblivion 2.0).

Don't see why not. They did an amazing job with the previous TES games as well as the FO games. If you go purely by their record of awsome sandbox games I'd give it a 95% chance of brilliance and an 100% chance of rainyday delite.

This. I mean MW, OB and FO3 were GOTY...TES V is shaping up to be better than any TES before, so if everything goes as it should, it will be amazing.

P.S: IMO OB is still the best game EVER released, and I'm hoping Skrim will beat it.

Actually 14 pages is a LOT of info dude, I think your just in shell shock and you'll probably buy the game anyway.

It is alot, but it isn't (as far as I've heard) very specific on the aspects I care about (RPG mechanics). And a lot of what is being told is not too good info for me, so far. I prolly will buy it, but that remains to be seen and is entirely up to how the game develops from here on.

For me personally, I think it will be amazing,... for others ... who knows? There are obviously people who are already convincing themselves that this game is an abomination. I do feel sorry for these folks if they can't enjoy this game. I understand what it's like to get attached to features in a game and then lose them in the following iteration. In my opinion I think it's fine as long as there is good reason, and the spirit of the series is still alive. Really, they aren't taking away that much. Like others said they are probably combining a couple of things. A game is not always going to have everything you want, and as much as the omission of certain features might irritate people,.. it doesn't make it a bad game. That being said, I did have a hard time with Splinter Cell Conviction. They totally trashed the slow methodical game play that made it great. That IMO was an example of trashing the "Spirit" of a series. Conviction wasn't a bad game, it just should have starred Jack Bauer, not Sam Fisher.

And I thought my topic "Do we have too many "Poll" threads?" was irrelevant. I do believe we have a new contender.

WHO ARE THE INFIDELS WHO VOTED NO?!?!

But seriously, for all of Oblivion's flaws it was still a great game and I loved playing it. This game is shaping up to at the very least be better than Oblivion, so I'm confidant it will be great. :)

Just take the best from Morrowind and add the best from Oblivion and I'll be satisfied.

Honestly I'm a Morrowind obsessive, but I did like Oblivion (like, not love) and if it's at least as good as Oblivion I will like it. But it will need to be something really special for me to love it. I am hoping it will be really special, but I'm not expecting it to be - so maybe I will be pleasantly surprised, but if that doesn't happen it will still be a good game I'm sure. I just don't want to hype myself up and then be disappointed.

Any game that BGS works on in secret for 3-4 years is gonna be GOTY material. They ROCK! Oblivion was amazing and they had to rush it before it was %100 ready. Screw hours, I put 54 whole days into Oblivion, if that is a rushed semi-rushed game then Skyrim is gonna melt my brain and kill me.

If it carries the name "The elderscrolls" It's automaticly amazing, for me. I wouldn't care if it was "The Elderscrolls IV : Pizza delivery boy" I'd still be happy.

It'll be a great game, no doubt. Whether it'll be a great RPG, I'll just have to wait and see.

Indeed the nay-sayers are infidels, and they are too much cowards to explain why, it seems. Or they just missed.

Also, lol, Samara. TES6 should be about a dragonborn-mailman ^,.,^
