My Fallout 3 Fanfic Idea

Post » Sat Jul 24, 2010 3:08 am

This isn't where I'm going to post my fanfic as I am still working on it, but I want to talk about my idea for a bit. I admit, I'm a big fan of the show Desperate Housewives, and I thought it'd be interesting to write a Fallout 3 fanfic based off the show.

The plot is going to be similar to the show, the Lone Wanderer's mother Catherine will be the narrator, similar to Mary Alice Young (and both are characters that die very early), and the 4 "Housewives" will be Mother Maya, Millicent Wellington, Bessie Lynn, and Christie Young. There will be a prologue as well as 4 chapters relating to each characte individually. Now some things I add about them might not be true to the actual story in Fallout 3, but it'll be to make these characters have a bigger plot.

I hope people will like this idea, and hope it's not weird that I'm basing my fanfic off that show. :P

Edit: Actually now that I think about it, I think it would be more interesting to do it about "Desperate Husbands" of Fallout 3, and have James be the narrator. :)

Well, I do not really know what to say. I do not know if this would be that great, I mean I hate that show so I do not think I would like a Fallout FF about it, but I might be wrong, do what ever you think is best. :D

lol believe or not, I don't know anybody that likes the show. Everyone I know seems to hate it, I guess I just have weird tastes. :P

But I really think it could work in my version of Fallout 3. The show was about 4 desperate women doing crazy things to get what they wanted, and there's PLENTY of people like that in the Wasteland. So in the style of the show, my fanfic would have James as the dead narrator who speaks from beyond the grave and makes fun of the living characters while explaining an importaint moral in the end. This is what I had planned for my 4 characters:

Deigo is the "Young Husband" from Rivet City who regrets his marriage. He and Angela start to have marital problems and Deigo is unhappy about his decision to leave the Church for her, and secretly wants to become a Priest again.

Edgar is the "Middle Aged Husband" of Tenpenny Tower who is bored with his life and wants a little excitement, so he has the affair with Susan Lanchester which eventually leads to his wife murdering him.

Nathan is the "Old Husband" of Megaton who wants life to go back to the way it used to be like when there was no violence or radiation and people didn't struggle to survive, but he doesn't realize the people he counts on to do all this aren't out for the best interest of people like him.

And James is the "Dead Husband" who was protective of his child but feels guilty about turning away from the chance to save the world, so he sacrifaced himself for the sake of both things.

I don't get why you people hate it? I think the show is funny as hell. :P

Edit: Then again, if I'm the only one who likes the show then I guess it's kind of silly to make a fanfic about it, maybe I'll try another better idea. :)

To be honest, I hate the show as well. But I am curious as to where a story like this would go. Just because I think the show svcks, doesn't mean ur story will.

OK, maybe I will finish it. I'm still working on it and it might take awhile.

Here's something I was writing about James narrorating the chapter about Edgar Wellington, I think it sounds just like something Mary Alice would say about the characters! :)

Edgar Wellington and Irving Cheng both lived in Tenpenny Tower, but they were not close friends because they seemed to have nothing in common. For example Edgar liked to dress in suits, while Irving liked to dress casually. Edgar's favorite food was brahmin steak, while Irving's favorite food was squirl stew. Yes it seemed as though the two men had nothing in common... except they cheated on their wives with the same mistress.

Susan Lanchester was very popular among the male population of Tenpenny Tower. She was an attractive woman, she knew how to start an enjoyable conversation, and she was also the local gold digger. Ms. Lanchester had very few female friends, and she seemed to perfer the company of men... after all, they were her source of income. So you can imagine the look on Millicent Wellington's face when she discovered a letter addressed to the resident [censored], writted in her husband's handwriting.

This would be a great change from action FF's. And, I could predict a great read if you have the right general storyline.
Now, I'm not a big fan of the show (I don't hate it, but I don't exactly like it), but for some reason I feel like I'd enjoy the crap out of your story.
