here's the deal... after blasting the raiders up the stairs from the underground subway at Chevy Chase North and looting their camp.. I head south.. as every walkthrough on the planet tells me to.. see the wasteland hostage.. the two mutants... however I never come into contact with the Brotherhood of Steel members... (I've tried this like seven times)... and only once have they ever showed up... one of them.. and gotten killed by a mutant... because of this I can't seem to jog my dialogue with Sentinel Lyons and follow the brotherhood to get into the GNR and I'm starting to go insane... I've been doing this for like three nights now.

I've attempted hiding fer several hours in "wait"... running around in circles while the mutants attack me.. hoping for them to show up... just killing the mutants... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... or where I can find the brotherhood...

does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? or what I should do here? I'm actually getting really frustrated at this point. I've never had this many issues triggering a scenario in a game.

any help is welcome...

Do you see any Brotherhood? Have you already done the Tranquility Lane quest? If you have done Tranquility Lane, they won't appear and you're on your own there. You'll be able to get into GNR after defeating the Muties.

I haven't... I did a search in the forum and read that part about the quests and them not being there... so I'm confused... I.. don't know to be honest what's up. I'm thinking about going further back in the game...

As long as the um, big enemy is triggered, you should be able to get into GNR. You're not missing much by them not being there. You'll run into Lyon's Pride later in the game anyway. If you have a save from just before entering Chevy Chase, you might try reloading it but I wouldn't go back farther than that.

Are you positive you're in Chevy Chase? I can't remember a hostage anywhere in Chevy Chase. Have you been through the ruined school? You wouldn't happen to be near a river would you?

I'm at chevy chase north.. after I came up the stairs from the underground train station... I headed south... ran into a couple of mutants... which is where every walkthrough I've seen says I should come into contact with them... and like I said.. only once.. have I ever come into contact with ( I believe ) a member of the brotherhood... and I think they died... my only issue... is that I ... would kind of like their help making it through the school O.o I'm sort of a pansy with this game... zombies and mutants freak me out.

I also seriously doubt you are in Chevy Chase. There are no Raiders there and there is no hostage there.

It sounds to me like you came out of the Farragut West Metro station. There are raiders to the south there and then a hostage.

Can you describe the surroundings. For example is the River there?

No, I'm pretty sure he's at the Friendship Metro Station. What he's describing sound about right, there a Raider camp as you exit the subway and just north of there is a couple of Mutants with a prisoner. If that's the case TeaFreak, you took the wrong exit in the Farragut Station. You went through the one up on top, you need to take the one down below, right near where you enter that tunnel. You'll see a BoS sign on the wall, turn right there. As Savlian mentions, there's no Raiders along that path at all, so maybe you should forget about using that walk through you're using. It doesn't sound like it's giving you accurate information.

It could be. But the captive is more west than south of there.And the OP says he headed south.

In any case, the OP is probably in the wrong place.

OP can you describe your surroundings. Are you in in the middle of DC or on the outskirts. Are there any unique buildings or other marked locations nearby?

Maybe just go back in the Metro and double check your local map for Chevy Chase.

Regardless, there's no captive and no Raiders in Chevy Chase. Friendship Metro sounds right the way he's describing it and it would be easy to take a wrong turn in Farragut Metro and end up there instead of at Chevy Chase. It's the exit on the upper platform, while for Chevy Chase you need to go down the lower tunnel on the right.

thanks... and you're right... I realized this late at night after finding a map... I'm in chevy chase NORTH... I need to be at chevy chase east (which is a short ways south of my current location) to be at the correct location for the plot line... and thanks for the tip about where to go in the metro station... I'll just go back a little bit and head out the right exit.
