Questions about the Dark Brotherhood.

This is tieing in very importantly with a backstory I'm creating for a future character. I'm just wondering. It says in The Imperial Library website (http://www.imperial-library.info/cyrodiil_guilds/dark_brotherhood.shtml) that the Wrath of Sithis comes in traitors of the Guild's sleeps to duel them.

It says that if they defeat the spirit, they are accepted into the guild again. What happens if they are defeated by the spirit? Do they die?

Also, it says that those above the rank of listener are not restricted by the tenets. Does this mean that they have no danger of the Wrath of Sithis if the break the tenets, unless it's directly ordered by the Night Mother?

Also, it says that the Night Mother forwards information to the Listeners once a week through a statue. That means that people wouldn't actually see the Night Mother very much. Do you think that the Night Mother would ever request to see higher-ranked members of the guild directly to discuss matters that weren't to do with executions, or would she pass on all of her messages through the listeners, even ones that weren't to do with executions?

Also, one more, on the lower levels, would the Night Mother automatically know about lower rank's breaking of tenets or would they have to be reported somehow?

I don't believe dying to the Wrath of Sithis has any effect other than that, well, you die. If the Wrath of Sithis is after you, it's very likely that, through whatever magical forces brought it into existence, it -will- find it's intended victim, and continue to come after them until the victim is dead. -If the victim doesn't manage to kill the spirit at any rate.- Sorry about any confusion I may have caused from that.

To the Listener part, yes, I believe that is the gist of it. Unless Sithis or the Night Mother are angered somehow and so command it, the Listener is safe from the Wrath of Sithis.

To the third part, I believe all matters are spoken through the Listener.

And the final part, the Night Mother -supposedly- knew of your destiny to become the Listener, of Belmont's betrayal, so it's likely that she would know of any breaking of the Tenets of those sworn to the Dark Brotherhood without it being reported to her.

Any information I have provided may be incorrect, but as far as I am aware, it is not.

Aside from the fact that Sithis isn't sentient, your mostly correct aside from the first paragraph, which is unclear

Just remember that Sithis is a force. An example of worshiping Sithis would be like worshiping gravity. paraphrasing what one person said, but forgot who so sorry, the DB's worshiping of Sithis is like a bunch of kids who get into devil worshiping to feel cool.

As for your questions if you fail to defeat the ghost, you die, and have to wait in the Dreamsleave, until you are randomly scooped out. And the Dreamsleave is where you go when you die, unless you sold your soul to a deity (NOT SITHIS), Zero Summed, or got CHIM, but all of that is a whole different can of worms, and won't be discussed.

Yes the Listener won't face the 'wrath of Sithis'

People must perform the ritual to be contacted by the DB. The statue is a medium of that ritual and forwards the information to the Listener, who then passes it to a Speaker, who then goes to the person to strike a deal, then the Speakers go to their underlings and tell them to do it.

Lastly, the night mother would know automatically, for she is really is the daedric prince, Melphala, or at least that is what most think tanks here say, which is mighty believable. So, basically, all that 'sithis' and 'night mother' business is just Melphala having fun

So you're saying Melphala came up with the "worship Sithis" idea?

That is disputable, considering that there are other beings that can sense things.
