I'm looking in the loan officer's desk and there is supposed to be a holotape but it's not there.Does it appear after I start a certain quest?I just got off the ferry and found the bank.

Sounds like you are starting the Velvet Curtain quest. If you just got off the boat explore all the buildings nearby. If my memory is correct the holotape you are looking for will not be found on the desk at the bank but read any Wanted Posters.

No, there's a holotape in or on one of the desks. It's not the one for the quest, however.

I found the gnome and the password but I have the guide and it says there is supposed to be a holotape in the desk but it's not there.Is the guide wrong (say it isn't so) or do I need to do something else before the tape appears?

i think there is a tape in the room where the dead chinese spy is.

Oh. I found the note on the computer about some old geezer's voice file and it opened one of the safety deposit boxes, I think, but there is another box I couldn't get open. I had just shrugged and figured I messed it up.



Ok. Just recently finished Point Lookout, but since I hadn't done that quest, I missed that part. How do you get the VC quest?

I love that quest probably my favourite one in the entire game.
