The test of resolve

Post » Mon Jul 26, 2010 12:44 pm

Hey all,

I am a measly level 8 woodland elf. My skill with bow is unmatched but blade and shield are lacking. I can jump and run like no other but brute force is not my forte. Recently, in a continuous effort to do some good, I got caugth up in the dreamworld quest. (I forget the name of the characters and the city in which it occurs, its been a couple of weeks since I`ve played) In the dreaworld I come up to a door called the test of resolve, Since i am clearly not one to back down from a test of any sorts i go through. ON the other side there is a magical well which arms me with...a blade and armour, no shield and certainly no bow. I continue up the ramp and enter a bloodied arena where I am subsequently attacked by two large mean looking minotaurs. I die every time. i cannot go back the through the door from hence I came...Am I &*%/*?

You have to finish the test, to be able to leave. I too, am a marksman, and die easily in melee combat. There's always the difficulty slider. How my girl did it, was she pretty much ran the entire time. Get a whack in here, get a whack in there, dodge, and run. Because one hit takes about half my health away. This was how she got out of that battle, without resorting to the difficulty slider, which is adjustable, fyi, mid-combat.

There should also be a Staff there. You don't need any skill to use the staff. I'm usually able to kill both Minotaurs with just the staff. And if you're fast you might be able to avoid any or most blows by the Minotaurs, because they are swinging heavy weapons.

Also just before you enter that test in Henetar's dreamworld house, there is a cabinet that is called "Heal Yourself" when you mouse over it. In it are some healing potions that may be very helpful.

Finally, the stuff you get in that cask is somewhat randomly generated when you enter that door from the dreamworld house.

yup I got the potions from the heal yourself cabinet. I usually used them all before dying a gory death. I will post my results the next chance I have to play. Won`t be before the end of the weekend though

Using the staff makes this battle a breeze. Try it

+1 for the staff. I've failed with characters that specialize in the other weapons, but they all won by using the staff instead.

Head to one side and try and finish off one minotaur at a time. Shoot while backing up, and they'll often swing and miss.

To agree with the above, I think the staff is meant for characters with minimal fighting abilities.

At lower levels that staff should have enough charge to kill both Minotaurs at normal difficulty. You should never have to use another weapon.

The trick is to keep out of range of the Minotaurs. To do that I recommend trying to focus on and finish off one as quickly as possible.

Also before you enter the door to that test, still in dreamworld house, there is a cabinet labeled "Heal Yourself" by the door. It contains some healing potions in case you get hit by a Minotaur.

I like this test very fun and challenging I've used the staff just about everytime when I go in with a warrior I end up killing one of them and hit the other one a few times by then I'm out of health and have to resort to the staff anyway. I pick up both armor and weapon and the staff with the warrior because I like to try my luck and see if I can beat them with mele thats just me though.

With plenty to spare.

The trick is to keep out of range of the Minotaurs.

That's not necessary, just fire the staff as quickly as possible focusing on one target at a time. They'll go down with about 4-5 blasts of the staff each. The closer you are, the less chance you have of missing.
