I'm trying to do the Mazoga the Orc quest. She asked me to bring her Weebam-Na, so I'm following Weebam-Na to the Leyawiin Castle. Only problem is, as soon as I open the doors, about 4 guards simultaneously begin attacking Mazoga. It takes awhile for her to go down, since she's wearing armor and what not. Is there anything I can do to interfere, or call off the guards so I can keep Mazoga alive and carry out the quest? Otherwise, she just dies and I get a message saying I'll never learn Mazoga's story.

One thing that comes to mind and might help is to leave Leyawiin for at least three days to allow everything there to reset. Then hopefully when you come back, everything will work fine. I have had luck with that to diffuse undesired mysterious stray fights.

If that doesn't help, let us know. If you need more help, also let us know if you are playing on PC.

Open up the console by tapping the "~" key, which is in the top left hand corner of the keyboard.

click on Mazoga with your mouse.
type: setcrimegold 0
hit Enter.

If that doesn't work, you can kill the offending guards in the console.

open the console
click on a guard
type: kill
hit enter

There is also a command where you can set Mazoga to essential, but I can't remember it atm.

Does Mazoga sleep, or eat? Maybe wait until she leaves the castle?

What Arcadian said leave Leyawiin for about 3 days come back and what Mazoga did to piss the guards off will have settled down.
Or if on PC then do what Fiore1300 said.

Okay all,

First of all I'm playing on Xbox, so no cheating for me unfortunately. I tried the methods above, and waited for 3 full days in front of Castle Leyawiin. Then after 3 days passed, I open the doors to the castle and the guards immediately draw their swords and swarm Mazoga.

Anything I can do to salvage this quest? I'd like to complete it. In one instance, I killed all the guards, kept Mazoga alive, then had Webeem-Na speak to her. Mazoga wanted to go to another location, so we went there and then THOSE NPCs attacked her on sight also, which screwed up the quest. I did not save this file.

At this point I'm just looking for any way to complete the quest the right way. Any ideas?

Have you tried going somewhere else to wait the three days, as suggested above? The idea is to get out of the problem zone, so things can reset.

Just tried that. Went to Cheydinhal, waited 3 whole days and came back, and still guards immediately attack Mazoga. I'm puzzled on this one...

Try loading a saved game before you actually went to Leyawiin, you have got plenty of hard saves haven't you.

Unfortunately I only have 2 save games and both of them are already long after my first visit to Leyawiin.

Just read this on UESP:

"It is advisable either to complete Mazoga's quests before you have started Sanguine's quest or wait to start after you have completed it. Performing Sanguine's prank with the other quests active can cause Mazoga to fight the numerous castle guards and probably end up being killed."

Unfortunately I already did Sanguine's prank and cast Stark Reality which caused some chaos in the castle. Is there nothing I can do at this point to salvage the Mazoga quest and the ones which follow it?

Good news: Was able to successfully complete both Mazoga quests, while amassing a large bounty and killing most Leyawiin guards in the process. No harm done though. Just had to sort of bodyguard her the whole time. Greater Convalescence and Staff of Banishment were my friends.
