Partition help

Post » Thu Jul 29, 2010 6:48 am

So I've screwed up with partitions before. I uninstalled Linux and deleted everything on my hard drive. But that's not important right now!

Since I reinstalled Windows 7 and Ubuntu using the wubi.exe. I have two partitions:

From smallest to largest
System Reserved
Usage: Filesystem
Size:105MB
Type: NTFS
Device: /dev/sda1
Mount Point: Not mounted
Partition Flags: Bootable

Local Disk
Usage: Filesystem
Size: 500GB
Type: NTFS
Device: /dev/sda2
Mount Point: Mounted at /host
Partition Flags: None

Now here's what I need help with. Before I had to reinstall everything, I had a RECOVERY partition and a Local Disk partition. Would my now 'System Reserved' be the same as my old RECOVERY? Basically I'm asking how I should re-partition this damn thing. Sooo if none of that was clear please say "What?!". And I'll do my best to re-explain. Help is needed....I think..

What? I don't see the need to re-partition a 500 GB drive to recover 105 MB of it if that is what you're asking.

No no no. I mean what is the point of the System Reserved partition if anyone else has it.

Thank you. Now for the Recovery disk part. If I was going to make one, how would I do it and what files would I put in it?

Are you talking about the recovery disks that manufacturers tell you to burn so they don't have to send you the Windows 7 disk? If so I would recommend either going to the manufacturers website or searching for the answer.
