I take it there is no horse?

GI magazine didn't mention a horse or any form of transportation.

Should we assume a horse is not in? I kinda hope its not. In Oblivion all it did was make the game chug and the animations were laughable at best

I know what you mean about the animations but the same can be said for nearly everything in OB. I'd like to see the return of horses. Perhaps Beth can take hints from the animation team behind AC.

Just because horses weren't mentioned doesn't mean they're not in. Obviously, the article can't tell us about everything that is in the game, and I'd imagine it was more focused in telling us about new features than returning ones from Oblivion, because just saying "Horses are still in the game" isn't as interesting as hearing about how they've changed the character mechanics or what the story will be about or whatever, I'd think.

Now, I can't guarentee horses are in the game, I don't actually know if they are or not, I'm just saying that just because they weren't mentioned in the article doesn't mean they're not there. And the fact that they weren't done so well in Oblivion is no excuse to remove them, because you know, you CAN improve of features that weren't done properly in sequels, just cutting them isn't the only option. That kind of logic leads to spears and unarmored getting the ax.

There is no information yet released on this, however, with the new game engine we are not able to know how mounted animations are going to look - if they are in.

How much does an engine have do with the animations really? I thought it was all up to 3d artist's skill.

The article didn't mention glass, daedric or ebony weapons, guys.

I'm assuming they're not in.

I think horses are in, not based on anything but the fact that I don't see why not. I personally don't like horses, but I like them to be an option, specially if they make mounted combat

I'd assume mounted combat isn't in: they would most likely have mentioned along with the new combat features if it was. A pity...but I'd say there'll be horses at least.

Not all that much, presumably, unless the engine comes with some new technology that somehow helps with creating animations. But regardless, while a new engine doesn't guarentee better animations, I would assume that Skyrim will use new animations instead of reusing ones from older games, just like how Oblivion used animations that were different from the ones in Morrowind, and Fallout 3 did not reuse animations from Oblivion, even New Vegas had many new animations that weren't in Fallout 3, despite using the same engine, and while the fact that the animations are new doesn't guarentee they'll be good, it does at least mean Bethesda has an oportunity to make better ones than the last game.

Well if they did get some more people on the team to specifically work on animations then by all means bring back the horse.

And you guys are right. This article was more about what new things they are bringing to the game rather then talk about returning features.

I just can't wait for this game. I have not looked forwared to a game like this since Oblivion and that surpassed my high expectations. This time around I guess I shouldn't expect to be blown away technically but Bethesda is just amazing.

Looking through the forum we already have a http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1156522-horses-and-horse-combat/ topic started earlier. Let's go with that one please.
