FOOK2 - How and What Benefits?

Post » Sat Jul 31, 2010 9:26 pm

I've played the vanilla game on PC all the way through and Broken Steel DLC. I also installed a couple smallish Mods to add a bit to the game. They are MoreMapMarkers.ESP, a Mod to show all additional locations on the map and Pip Boy and Max Level 99 V2.ESP, which raises the maximum player level from 30 to 99, along with a few extra Perk levels. There were also a couple minor Mods I put into the Data/sound/wpn Folder to give me some better weapon sound effects. Though I haven't used a lot of Mods, I've done some reading on this Forum and am familiar with the general procedure.
I've seen references to and done some reading on FOOK2 and had a few questions about it. I know it adds more weapon, armor, and ammo types. Also, better textures, skins, and sound effects. So, would I be netter off starting a new game after installing FOSE, FOMM, FOOK2? Or can I do the installs and continue with my current character and game?

I don't know about everyone else, but my game crashed with FOOK2 when i got kidnapped in the main quest. When i disabled it, it went fine, but when i re-enabled it and got a level it crashed when trying to choose a perk.

I installed it into an existing game without a problem. I enjoyed it's diversity and collecting weapons (although some are a little meh on the 'should this be in the game' scale).

It does introduce a couple of bugs but there's a bunch of fix patches.

They've had a problem with their server which they're in the process of recovering from. This I believe has pushed back the release of version 1.1 that was due soon.

I can't say it made my game unstable. I probably have a crash once every 4 or 5 sessions and I play for a few hours at a time. I've lots of other mods installed too so who knows. It's stable enough for me.
