Primary Needs update?

Post » Sun Aug 01, 2010 1:51 am

I was playing Martigens mutant mod and the Mothership zeta crew mod yesterday. Kept bumping into being hungry and thirsty no matter how much stuff I ate or drank. I mean. Its a LOT of stuff added to these mods food and drink wise and its irritating I'm nearly dead after eating so much stuff that won't count for Primary Needs.

If anyone could make a update or patch. The primary needs mod is a year old without any real update on the nexus. So I'm sure I'm not the only one that would like these =)

If you don't mind having to use Real Injuries as well, there's the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6661 which is still improving both Real Injuries and Primary Needs with one .esp patch.

Also, Primary Needs (alternatively the above mentioned patch too) comes with a MMM compatibility patch, which allows you to eat meat added by MMM to satisfy your hunger.

Thanks chief. I know the real injuries uses the same core but at the same time I was apprehensive about using the RI full because I use arwens mod and thought the scripts get all wonky. Could be wrong there though.

On the topic since you bring it up. Do you use arwens 4.0? Is the MMM rc5 food stuff up? =)

Yeah I know...I could test it it out. But if yer still on and use these already. Why not ask, hehe

My other concern with RI, is having my Darn UI already set up to show my hunger/thirst/sleep meters on my screen via the new UI update. I rather not use something that would fudge up my meters. Reading the nexus real injuries. I don't see where or if it would work with that ui patch =/

Arwen uses the mod herself, I don't think there are compatibility problems there. Have a look http://amito.freehostia.com/Fallout/FO-mods05.htm#RI-patch.

I don't know if rc5 added any new foods compared to the previous versions, or when the MMM compatibility patch was created, but I haven't had any issues.

Yeah I'm still using Arwens. I don't think I'll ever switch to anything else, it's a great mod and it gets better with every release.

K thanks =)

I do see a few food items in MMM from some things...I'll have to test it again. I think off the top of my head it was something like gecko meat. Not 100% certain though.

Not really whining about it though. I rather not fudge up my mods and just pack the stuff that works with me ahead of time on a trip. Just convenience really =)

The other thing I would be concerned with is the Darn UI and the patch for adding Darn UI to primary needs/simple needs. To have those up on your player screen. All that unfamiliar scripting makes me think of nasty fist fights in my FOMM over what is suppose to work without crashing my game lol

Like if I drop the primary needs for Real injuries version would I still get them to work in my darn ui?
Skeptical, plus paranoid my game will explode lol

You need to understand that my mod is made to be used with the other mods on my FO3 mod list.

So RI/PN is 100% compatible with my Realism Tweaks, and always has been, since I'm a HUGE fan of RI/PN.

Orfevs' Real Injuries Patch is a bit of a misnomer, as it also improves Primary Needs.
There's even an optional esp that makes MMM's creature meat compatible: CP - RiPnO [MMM] Meats.esp

The RI Primary Needs / Simple Needs DarnUI Plugin works just fine when RI is also installed. I'm using it in mod own game.

Thanks, that's good to know. The RI should really just be a Primary Needs patch. As I would have never grabbed it thinking the DARN UI hunger/thirst/sleep meters would get all fudged up.

Now off to grab it ^_^

So, wait. Do I grab the Real Injuries basic mod THEN the RI patch? Plus I already have the Primary Needs. But do I need to use this still or just the patch ?

Hate getting stuff and finding out 4 hours later when I log that I needed a bunch of other stuff. Mind grabbing the links in order of what I need? Pwitty pwease? =)

In the My First Laboratory in the game. I'm assuming the mod that allows the player character to use a refillable stimpack on npc followers can be also refilled here to continue using the refill stimpack ?

There's an extensive load order description on the Real Injuires Patch description page - I really recommend reading it!

Briefly, you will need:

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=834
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2125
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6661

:)

Ok grabbed the files. Feeling like such a noob here.... XP

I just thought of this now. I already have installed Primary Needs and the PN Darn UI. The RI patch says I need the RI Core.esm. Which is already in the latest Primary needs mod. I'm confused as to which one from what package I'm suppose to use? =/

At a guess, do I even really need the RI mod ? It looks like the same files are already in Primary Needs as the dates on them are newer. So I think I would be ok maybe just with PN and the RI patch?

Yeah, it can be a bit of a tricky install/load order.

You'll want a load order that looks something like this (this is mine, you might end up with something slightly different):

Fallout3.esm
Anchorage.esm
ThePitt.esm
BrokenSteel.esm
PointLookout.esm
Zeta.esm
RI_Core.esm ------------------(from RI or PN (same file) load before MMM if you have it)
Mart's Mutant Mod.esm
...
RI and MMM should load late so other esps go here
...
RI_Base3.esp ----------------(from RI)
RI_FOSE.esp -----------------(from RI or PN (same file))
RI_PNeeds2S.esp -----------(from PN)
RiPnO CorePatch.esp -------(from Real Injuries Patch - main file/required)
RiPnO 5 DLC Merged.esp ---(from Real Injuries Patch - use if you have all 5 DLC (there are separates available)
BLTC.esp -----------------------(BLTC goes here if you have it)
BLTC Immersion Patch.esp---------(optional BLTC file)
CP - RiPnO [BLTC032+DLC(BS+PL)].esp -------- (Real Injuries Patch for BLTC (only if you have BLTC))
RI Backpack Nerf.esp ---------- (optional Real Injuries Patch file)
Mart's Mutant Mod.esp ---------(MMM esps go here)
...
CP - RiPnO [MMM] Meats.esp ---(Real Injuries Patch patch for MMM - allows cooking of Radscorpion meat)
...
any other stuff that needs to load very late/last (such as Arwen's tweaks)

You'll also want to plonk the RI_Core.bsa (PN) in your Data folder - contains textures for things like Backpack and cooking stove.

Oh, here's the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1745 link if you want to look at that as well.

Then once you've got all that loaded and game started, you should get a few messages after which you can hit Enter (keypad) and start configuring away!

Hollar if you need a hand with anything else!

Really? Groovy. Didn't realize you were using that.

(I've been wondering how widely word of it had gotten out thus far)

Actually I decided to test it out. So far it looks fine on my screen also. I load it almost last in my load order to so all UI's don't get scrambled. Seems to work fine with the other stuff mentioned here.

Primary needs patch that is. Using it with Real Injuries. It doesn't seem to screw anything up and I get the awesome meters on my screen. =)

PS Uncle- It really is much fun using it, looks great. Small yet right where you need it and can easily see it.

Glad you like. :)

I can't really take credit for the look of it - as I'm just triggering DarN's code there - but it is handy for those of us not using FWE to have the capability that had previously been reserved for FWE users only! :tops:

gack! >_<

I don't like FWE lol

Arwen's Tweak modules RULE ! ^_^

I'm new to the Darn UI, so after getting these things now my game is great looking =)

Small effort or big. It is very helpful. Now I'm venturing into AP realm and various companion mods. Since next month is my last internet month I can afford. I'm stocking up now lol

I don't like FWE lol

In fairness, it is an extremely well done mod (set) - it just isn't for everyone. (Including, not for me)

Arwen's Tweak modules RULE ! ^_^

Another extremely well done mod (set) - again, not for everyone. (Also including me actually, though Arwen's tweaks have inspired me to add several additional tweaks to my own private environment)

DUI - in my opinion, the one mod that I could never go back to not using. *shudder*
